at karate we started actually making contact for the first time in the year ive been there. uwe, yes that is a german name, it would sound like oova, the instructor decided to have contact night, and i loved it. i think i hurt a couple of people, he was teaching us how to take a hit, so he told me to hit them harder, then we had to switch partners, and i had to go with him because no one was hitting me hard, and no one could take a hit from me, just one of those karate moments that makes you smile.
so thank you sensei Brewer and Sensei Hartman for beating the crap out of me all of those years, and thanks to the general staff of blackbelts for not treating me like a pussy even though i wasnt a high rank.
it also made me realize why my sparring seems so much better than theres, you cant fully understand a block until you absolutly depend on it. I remember learning how to move and block because my ribs depended on it, that is good training, and without that part of training, i dont think anyone can grasp the entirety of the fundamentals of karate.
