Ok so last night the team I play for (Kilmacud Crokes) had a match against a team that recently beat us and who we more than likely have to play again over the next two weeks and unfortunately our goalie and sub-goalie were both missing so I got the lovely job of standing between the posts and trying to keep the ball out!!
Ok so im no goalie so that fact that the team scored four goals is no surprise in fact I play in the forwards so this is definitely not a usual position for me. So anyways the match went on, the rain poured for the whole thing and we were into the last ten (so you can imagine by now the mud was just really wet and slippy) when suddenly the opposition seemed to have a new lease of life and took off and just attacked and bombarded my goals I managed to save a nice few to my surprise and let in four :o(
But one that I did save probably one of the more important ones required me to dive (so didn't plan on diving at all) and just got covered in mud, just pause and image that totally from the bottom of my boots right up to the top of my shirt totally brown in colour! I still was happy enough as managed to save my face and save the ball, then one of my team mates passed me the ball and I caught it without thinking and splat mud spattered all over my face!
So I have now come to the conclusion mud and rain a very bad combination especially for a goalkeeper :o(
