Random random random thought here for my anime watching friends. I was just sitting here looking at someone's gallery on DA and they have PHENOM stuff. But there's a few piece of Hellboy II fanart there and it got me thinking. I think I know why I love HB II so much.
Hellboy II = Fatal Fury The Motion Picture. (SPOILERS AHEAD)
Hellboy and Mr. Wink. Both huge muscly demons with one powerful hand at their disposal and they seem at first to be nearly equal in ability. One misstep and Mr.Wink ends his own life.
Terry Bogard and Jamin. Both slender, tall insanely powerful fighters. Terry has his Power Geiser, an energy fist attack that runs across the ground and erupts in an energetic explosion. Jamin has the Earthquaker, a double fisted energy attack that runs along the ground and erupts in an energetic explosion. Jamin and Terry fight, Jamin nearly wins until a misstep causes him to end his own life.
Prince Nuada is one half of a pair of pretty twins who is looking for pieces of an ancient crown to give him unstoppable power to rule the world. Ends in an underground palace where he assembles the pieces.
Laocorn Gaudeamus is one half of a pair of pretty twins who is looking for pieces of an ancient armor to give him unstoppable power to rule the world. Ends in an underground temple where he assembles the pieces.
Princess Nuala is a sympathetic twin of Nuada with a touch based power of empathy who falls for one of the heroes and hides a piece of the crown herself to stop her brother from completing his aims. She ends up kidnapped by the Prince who gets the last piece only to be stopped by his sister stabbing herself to bring about both their deaths.
Sulia Gaudeamus is a sympathetic twin of Laocorn with a touch based healing power who falls for one of the heroes and hides a piece of the armor herself to stop her brother from completing his aims. She ends up kidnapped by her brother who gets the last piece only to be stopped by his sister stabbing herself to bring about both their deaths.
Hellboy was defeated initially by Nuada. He comes within inches of death only to come back full strength and overcome him showing him exceeding his usual fighting ability.
Terry was defeated initially by Laocorn. He comes within inches of death only to come back full strength and overcome him showing him exceeding his usual fighting ability.
hmmmmmmm....total coincidence I know, but HB II felt familiar when I watched it and now I understand why. It just seemed to fit with me and I guess now I know why I loved it so much. Cuz I do so love Fatal Fury. it was a great heartfelt movie with a fair balance of character development and romance tied in with excellent action sequences.
