every year i really look forward to the House of Blues Christmas party...they always have fun stuff and GREAT food.
yesterday at work someone bought some of the faculty Panera for lunch. the leftovers were brought downstairs for us to nibble on, and there just happened to be a bunch of pickles left over. before leaving work i grabbed a pickle to take to Corbin, thinking it would be a nice snack to tide him over until we got to the House of Blues party. when i got home he greeted me at the door with his usual excited hug and kiss, and i showed him his surprise..."a pit-tle!" as he ate it he said, "Mmm, mommy, dis is a dood pit-tle."
then we all got showers and got pretty for the party. as we drove, we talked about the past parties and tried to guess what theme they'd have this year. it turns out, they stuck to a pretty traditional Christmas motif which i LOVED. everything was decorated with Christmas ornaments and things, and the food was spread out all over: sliced chicken with gravy, barbecued flank steak, mashed red potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, fresh green beans, lasagne, soft and hard tacos, asian fried rice, crab legs and shrimp.........YUM!!!!!!!!!! they also had a dessert station with coffee and flavored syrup. everything was wonderful. one of the security guys got to be the deejay for the evening and he did a great job. Corbin got right out into the pit and got to work shaking his groove thing. he was so cute that two different people came over and took his picture. there were also some basketball games set up with a bunch of basketballs for competing. Corbin had a blast stealing them from the game and running all over the dance floor with them. they also had the photographer back this year which was AWESOME...we got a picture of the three of us against a House of Blues backdrop. all in all, a very fun night.
after we got home Corbin and i laid in his bed while i read him some stories from his Toddler's Bible. after reading nearly the entire book i told him "it's time to go to bed, Corbin." he kissed my shoulder twice and in a sleepy little voice said, "Mommy, taynt you for dat sweet pit-tle."
thank you for that sweet pickle. not that the pickle was sweet, but the fact that i brought it all the way home from my office for him to enjoy.
i just love him so much. :)
