Plowing into the future

When I just signed in, I thought it said "create an accident." How true it is...

Wow, first post of a new year. If I did my traditional "1st post of every month" review, it would be pretty slim this year. I'll kill the suspence: I didn't write anything because I was too busy doing it.

New year, 2008 - it's gonna be great! I'm pretty excited about setting goals for this year, some of which I have broken or not started yet, so I'd better hop to it. One of them was to write more and I guess this medium is my medium of choice.

~Now for the exciting/funny/entertaining resolution~
In 2008, I hope to be less klutzy. Let's recap here: to date in 2007, I have continued to trip UP stairs and roll my ankles as I usually do, but I also added a few doosies to my repetoire. It started in July: a seemingly normal random-fun day. I arrive at the house of the guy I was dating at the time and he and his roommates announce we will be running around town...on bikes. Needless to say, I hadn't brought my bike in my car so I borrowed one of his. I almost went unscathed until we headed back using a short cut. We tried biking fast since it was an un-fun portion of South Minneapolis we were cutting through. I have no idea how it happened, but all of I sudden I was seeing the pavement of Franklin Ave. coming towards me at an alarming rate. My life flashed before my eyes as I realized I was sprawled out in the middle of the intersection and I jumped up quickly, bleeding in four places. I yelled for the guy who then realized I wasn't behind him anymore; not the brightest bulb on the tree. THEN came my two dancing spills: the one that left a mark was dress rehearsal. I noticed the set had not been spike taped yet (glow in the dark tape so you don't run into things). I memorized the set and confidently walked across the stage in the blackout. I ran right into something and as I fell I thought "what the hell am I falling over!?!" It was a set of stairs painted black that had not been striked yet. I ruined my last pair of body tights :-( but was able to dance the rest of the show. I still have the gouge in my leg to prove it! Finally, my last graceful moment of 2007 and let me just say, I went out with a bang! I went out for New Years kind of on a second date. We had been to one party to start it off, then were off to someone's house. Being a second date, I dressed up in a little black dress, black dance tights to the ankle, and threw caution to the wind with a pair of red high heels I wore to senior prom and never since. Most of the party was moving to the basement, including said date, and I decided to make a fashionably late entrance. I'm walking down the stairs, trying to do "the walk" when my heel catched at about the 2nd stair. Talk about an entrance: I fell/slid down the stairs face first. >_< To make matters worse, I landed at my date's feet and everyone in the house came running because it sounded so bad. I even took out a chunk of drywall!!! The date and the host (a fireman) put on some bandaids and I took my shoes off for the rest of the night.

Well, nothing catastrophic yet, just two cuts on my hands of unknown sources and 2 small battles with a door (we're tied - we each won one battle). Eh, and who knows, it sounds like there's still hope for a 3rd date ;-)

clumsy, new year
