The husband and I were invited to join a couple who are our close friends and that husband's parents for dinner last night. Really nice to have the time with them, plus
the restaurant they took us to was one that I'd been wanting to try for a long time.
What a treat! The food was INCREDIBLE! Not to mention that everything there was organic and the ambience was eclectic and relaxing.
I'm lucky enough to have been raised by people who are, on both sides of the family, really good cooks and I enjoy fine cooking myself so I LOVE finding places that impress me. Especially when they do a great job with the vegetarian stuff - it grates me to go to a nice restaurant and see all kinds of gorgeous and creative vegetable accompaniments to the meat and seafood dishes, only to hunt through the menu for the token meatless item... and it's cheese ravioli or cheese lasagna.
Seriously.
But Nora's - pure bliss and layers of subtle flavors like you wouldn't believe. I'm going to experiment at home until I can approximate that goat cheese tart with chanterelles, sweet peppers, bits of fennel, bits of artichoke, and lots of lovely other flavors.
