So i went to charleston this past week for a wedding. Did i mention that i almost died at said wedding? Ok, so it wasnt that bad, but i was in the worst storm i've ever seen. Oh, and i was outside....holding jack.... with no buildings around. Ah. Vacation. The wedding started fine. It was really windy on the beach but very pretty. Then we move to the Pelican Watch Shelter for teh reception which is really nothing more than those so called Shelters you see at the park. You know, a roof on some support beams. But it's decorated and really pretty. Then
Crack goes the thunder. Streak goes the lightening. We see it coming but we also see the clouds moving at a diagonal. We're all hoping that we just see a storm in the distance and it will blow by us. Especially since the weather report said our area had a 20% chance of slight showers. Minutes later
(and this is if it even was minutes) The wind starts up and it starts raining. But there's a roof so we're ok. No... we're not. Suddenly rain starts gushing down like God was dumping painbuckets on us. The rain began coming in sideways. Then the wind started so hard things we falling over. I find out later they were 60-70 mile per hour winds! I just grabbed jack tight, stuck his sunglasses on him (remember we're by sand dunes wish huge winds) and duck behind the small stretch of wall. We were some of the very few lucky ones. Everyone else was drenched. The car seat/infant carrier and diaper bag were blown into the bushes by the dunes and greg had to go find them. They were covered and filled with wet gross sand.
After the scariness was over and it was at least safe enough to move everyone went down to beach to the groom's parents beach house. I will say this was the most "exciting" wedding i've ever gone to!
