Life changes?

So employment at Chippewa Nature Center ends August 15th.  While I had hoped that I would be able to get a full time position out of them, there ain't no way that's happenin.  Due to major renovations of the visitor's center, there isn't enough room to run many of the programs CNC is used to running.  Therefore no open programs, no new staff, no job for Brian.

That's old news.  Since then I've been applying for jobs elsewhere.  Two I've gotten in went to camps in Jackson and Battle Creek Public Schools.  Both positions are for outdoor educators.  Both jobs don't pay very well, but they provide room and board as well as other benefits.  I interview for the YMCA job on Friday.  The only contact I've gotten from Battle Creek was an email bot that said 'Thank you for applying.  Don't call to verify that we received your application... 'cause we did.'

The other position I've heard from is with the Student Conservation Association (SCA) as a project leader with the El Centro Restoration Team.  The job works closely with the Bureau of Land Management to restore areas that have been damaged by illegal offroad vehicle use.  The project is 8 months long and I would supervise 6 interns between the ages of 18 and 25 for that period.  While the project is for only 8 months, the position is year-round.  After the El Centro project ends, I would basically jump on a new one.  The job pays well, provides housing, and has added benefits.  I spoke with the Program Director on the phone yesterday and today.  He provided a significant amount of detail about the position and answered several of my questions.  He also told me that the next step would be to schedule a formal interview and that I should take a few days to mull it all over before getting back to him.  If all goes well, I could be relocated by this time next month.

Did I mention that the position is in California??

I'm slowly becoming more o.k. with the idea of uprooting myself and moving out there, especially for a job with this kind of significance.  Obviously I'd be far, far away from friends, family, MSU, and the four seasons that I love, but I guess ya gotta go with what the Big Man has in store.

Definately haven't made a decision yet, and I would love/appreciate some input on this one.
