Not Dead

Well, I'm in Midland.

I made it up here on Friday and moved into the duplex at Chippewa Nature Center.  Within the first 4 hours, two people came over and introduced themselves:  my neighbor from the other side - a really old, awesome dude named Bruce that loves to banter with everyone on staff, and a young, bearded guy that heads up the maintenance staff named Curt.

This place is nothing like Island Lake.  Everyone laughs, loves their jobs, and is friendly!!!!!  It's a completely opposing trifecta!!

My only complaints:
a) No internet at the duplex and the buildings lock up at 5 pm when I get off work.  This means I have to jump online during my lunch hour or get offsite (like I am now) to a local coffee shop with free wireless.
b) Because I've uprooted myself and come to Midland, I have nothing to do after 5 because.... dun, dun, dunnnn... I don't know ANYBODY up here.  Supposedly the staff hangs out from time to time after work, but I have yet to see it.  Must... make... friends...
c) No lady friend to speak of.  And the pickings on staff are slim.  Plus that would just complicate things...
d) No plan after August.  I HAVE to start looking for jobs after Chippewa is done.  Or just have a good enough plan to pitch to my parents so I don't get nagged.

Two weddings this weekend, and I'll be in EL on Sunday.  Let's see if I can reconnect a little bit and not feel like such a hermit.  Then the kids come on Monday, and the summer has officially taken off.
