Remember what this holiday is about. It was made a national by President Lincoln in 1865 when the Civil War ended. President Lincoln was thankful that the fighting had stopped and now we could put our country back together again. Brothers could be brothers again. Mothers could embrace their sons. Wives could go to the side of their husband once more. And daughters could be "daddy's little girl" again. So this holiday isn't just about turkey, pies, and football.
