sometimes the best good guys you can get are bad guys

Last week was an extremely productive week.

...Schoolwork? What schoolwork? Psh. I WATCHED TELEVISION.

My DVR thing was almost full, so I knocked a lot of it out. I AM VICTORIOUS.

I also began series 3 of Skins via Youtube. I have no idea why.

LEVERAGE

OHMYGOD LEVERAGE.

I did miss the earlier episodes, but I just 1x09 - 1x12 and JFC I'm in love with every. Single. ONE OF THEM. I SHALL CATALOG MY LOVE:

Nate - Coolest boss ever. Of course I dislike his decisions sometimes, but him screwing up some things and then piecing it back together for an okay-ending adds to the entertainment and fulfillment of his character.

Sophie - Ooh, the "shocker" in "The First David Job" made me grin. Definitely loving her. Her dynamic with Nate is really fun. To be honest, she's my least favorite character, but it's only because everyone else is freakishly lovable.

Eliot - I was not expecting to like this character. I'm not usually all that entertained by the cocky muscular jackasses, but I dunno. I think Eliot's neurotic enough to not seem too meatheaded (see: "The 12-Step Job," when he flips out over the slushie in the car). Or maybe I just love the jocks more than I think? :P Maybe it's just the way he interacts with the other characters.

Hardison - I HAVE NO WORDS. HE'S JUST. He's the geek, of course. He loves science fiction (he references Doctor Who multiple times), he's sarcastic, he's sweet, he's brilliant... And his character is totally balanced. He's the super-brilliant tech guy, but he's socially adjusted, a great speaker ("The Juror #6 Job"), and a bit of an action hero (ELIOT + HARDISON FIGHT SCENE IN "12-STEP JOB" OMG I WAS BOUNCING UP AND DOWN IN MY SEAT). So, yes. Kinda want to marry him. ♥

and, my favorite, PARKER - SHE'S THE MOST ADORABLE PERSON EVER. The first episode of Leverage I saw, she stabbed a guy in the shoulder with a fork, and then ninjas her way across town. The next time I see her, her and Hardison are having a sweet heart-to-heart that makes me ship them instantly. He's so sweet to her! And then she's telling Serbian orphans that she'll make their tomatoes shiny. They just giggle. She sighs. "...Haagen-Dazs?" "HAAGEN-DAAAAZS." And then I saw "The Bank Shot Job," totally out of order, I know. And that just multiplied my love. And then her in "The 12-Step Job," with the "I steal, even though my parents are rich because... *sigh* I hate myself." And the happy pills. and then! "The First David Job"! Her improvising a plan! Hardison's total criminal admiration hard-on for her! HER LOVE FOR THE LITTLE NAKED MAN. JUST. ♥

And I love them all together. Nate & Sophie being the daddy & mommy. Hardison & Parker being adorable, like a kindergarten crush. Eliot & Hardison being guys (esp "12-step job" best episode ever, my god) and kicking ass together.

SO MUCH LOVE.

PSYCH

SEASON FINALE.

FUCKING INTENSE. TOTALLY UNEXPECTED.

The ending was a little bit of a let-down. It was amazing until the Mr. Yang just handed over the detonator and turned herself in. Very anticlimactic.

BUT OHMYFUCKINGOD. SHAWN. FREAKING OUT. GUS. BEING STUPID TO HELP. That was the sweetest ever. "I want pancakes. With whipped butter." And I even loved Mary. Totally bizarre, totally absurd character which was just great in such an intense episode.

AHHHHH AND THEY TOTALLY RUINED MY SHAWN/JULES. I'M TOTALLY OKAY WITH THAT. Because, y'know. They didn't really settle it, but I got the feeling that the writers were trying to say, "Maybe next season, we don't know, but we'll try not to fuck with you guys anymore. 'kay?" OKAY.

Seriously. It didn't really feel like "My Psych" but it was great all the same. FUCKING A++++++, SHOW.

skins

I begin with this: I DO NOT USUALLY WATCH TEEN DRAMAS. I never can relate to them, even as a teen, because I find that the characters are usually inconsistent, changing whenever the writers decide that someone needs to get pregnant, or depressed, or self-mutilating. And I've watched a bit of series 1 Skins, but I never got into it.

Watched the first two episodes of series 3 for no reason.

HOLY CRAP. Either my taste in entertainment has gone down the toilet, or this is actually good. I related to Freddie, being trapped in a destructive friendship like he has with Cook. I relate to Emily, being forever tagged to her sibling. I even relate to JJ and Pandora, both of whom have no fucking clue. Ever.

Of course, I can't relate to their choices and situations. Getting shit-faced all the time, recreational drugs, promiscuity. Not my thing. But if it was, I think I'd be a lot like these guys. Except for Cook. I'm intrigued by him, but I hate him. Glad he's in the show though.

So, I'm thinking I might have really bad taste for being impressed with this show so far? Y/N? Eh. Whatever. Watching ep 3 now.

THE END. :D
