I've a question. Why can't the kitchen request high quality ingredients from the Admiral? This isn't even about the cooking. I'm not quite sure I can even judge your cooking when such terrible quality is used.

How about that pasta? Or anything? I already miss having something good to eat.

[Narvin doesn't like talking about his personal life under the best of circumstances. Talking about it with Rassilon is high up on his list of things he'd really rather not do.

But...]

[...Rassilon sounds polite enough (at the moment, at least). And there's a part of him that *wants* to justify himself--in his own mind as well as to the outside world. And, of course, there's also the issue that Rassilon essentially holds his regenerations hostage and this question isn't (yet) something worth risking his regenerations over.]

Leela isn't the only exception, just the most notable one. There were rumours about the Doctor and some of his Companions. And one of our Commanders in the Chancellery Guard was seduced by a human woman. Not that it ever came to...[awkward cough]...but only because she ended it. And heavens knows what the students at the Academy might have got up to while it was...mixed.

[Although none of that answers the question of why *he*, a good conservative Time Lord, broke with tradition.]

I did it because I wanted to. And because, quite honestly, in the beginning I thought no one would ever find out.

That's not a good justification for going against our values. As Coordinator you can't just do whatever you feel like. You're not a student or a guard, you're Leader of the CIA and part of the Council. If no one ever would have found out, it still wouldn't have changed the fact that you turned your back on Gallifrey's values.

On the contrary, Coordinators are always engaged in cover ups and dirty little secrets. In that respect, I think I was following CIA tradition quite well.

I bet you'd appreciate eggs fresh from the hen.

But all I have are what the garden has. Still, I have twenty strawberries picked the moment they got fully ripe, and that should be tasty. Would you like?

Strawberry's...? [That's an Earth fruit, right?] How sating are they?

can_has_vodka September 11 2011, 20:06:08 UTC
They are sating enough for a snack, and provide the body with many things it needs. Keeps off scurvy and all. One berry will do it, but you sound like your taste-buds are in need.

I did ask my lover if we could cook something... But I wouldn't mind trying.

There's nothing wrong with the ingredients. It's not like they're serving real prison food or MREs. [Both of which he's encountered before :c]

They are low quality. Even the honey tastes terrible, and that can't be the cooking.

Or maybe you're just complaining because you're used to higher standards. This is just. Normal food. No better or worse than anything you'd find in an ordinary grocery store in a developed country on Earth.

Then Earth must have terrible food. This tastes worse than everything Minaru ever made and her family were farmers, hardly capable of buying anything expensive.

Wait, is someone other than me complaining about the food for once?

Reply

shortsghtedlove September 11 2011, 20:27:21 UTC
I've complained more than once, but the staff never listens. But really, what ingredients you use has nothing to do with a lack of staff. There's no excuse for that.

So go cook there.

Didn't I just say it wouldn't help? Besides, I've never bothered to learn it. It's never been necessary. [Not quite true, but forcing Kro'ka to do it had just been more to his taste than doing it himself.]

I hadn't noticed any of the meals lacking quality. The meat is always quite plentiful.

But it is low quality. [Someone just doesn't like Earth food.]

I've had low quality meat, I certainly wouldn't call anything I've had since coming on board that...

Apparently it is supposed to be normal quality for some of the humans here. But they still taste terrible.
