45.2 What confuses you?
((Takes place before most of Epic Angst.))
"Hello, Dick!" Dr. Annie Hastings said as Dick walked into her office. "How has your week been?"
Dick smiled at her. "Okay. Stressful. This is my last appointment with you."
Annie blinked. "I - what?"
Dick shrugged. "Roy. He says we were flirting in the grocery store."
"Oh." Annie looked down. "Well, whatever you feel is best, of course. This is for you, entirely. Do you want to talk about it?"
Dick shrugged and sat down. He'd already paid for the session, he may as well get something out of it. "I guess. Maybe. I don't know."
"Does he act jealous a lot?"
"Does he ever. I can't so much as look at another redhead without him getting upset. I don't understand it! I'm not known for my faithfulness, but I promised! He has no reason to get jealous before anything's happened! He just assumes I'm looking for the next chance I have to leave him! Like I don't love him."
"Hmm."
"He even suggested an open relationship! Like he's not enough for me. I mean, I never, ever mean to cheat. I don't really flirt. I don't want to sleep with someone else. He's the one I love."
"Hmm. Dick?"
"Yeah?"
"You were flirting in the grocery store."
"I... was?"
Annie nodded. "You were."
"Oh." Dick frowned. "I didn't... mean to be."
"Hm. Have you considered couple's therapy? I think you two could benefit from it."
"I don't really want that."
"Just consider it." Annie smiled at him. "It was very nice meeting you, Mr. Grayson. I hope you and Roy work it out."
"Yeah, thanks." Dick pulled on his coat and wandered away thoughtfully.
