Glad to send the traffic your way ... and now a rolling flood of Shortpacked readers is lighting up my server, so the CIRCLE IS COMPLETE.

By the way, I know that with everybody's established family relationships in Funky Winkerbean it seems impossible that incest is in the works ... and yet every forboding moment seems to imply it. Seriously, how messed up is this comic that incest is even in the offing?

Hey, have Robin and Ethan's parentages been established? Maybe Ultra-Car could reveal that they are long lost sibs. Would this make Robin's lust abate -- or just all the more inflamed?

Hmmmm. No, I guess that wouldn't work. Robin's Hispanic and Ethan's Jewish. AND NEVER THE TWAIN SHALL MEET.

My circumstance is equally unlikely! See, my family is half white and half nerdy dork. CRAZY.

Chris Funaro has a bizarre family lineage. One of the only two branches of the Funaro family in America- his ancestors came from Italy... or so he thought. While goign through his father's papers he learned they were actually Spanish (by way of Spain) and had changed their names to blend in better.

...he then subsequently discovered that the Funaros clan is traditionally Jewish, which made him fake-italian, fake-jew, all cop.

Man, I didn't know you had an LJ.

Not that you seem to use it.

*ahem*

Wait, is she Hispanic, or Latina? There's a difference, after all.

Do tell... jfruh April 17 2007, 19:01:06 UTC
Throughout my life (30 years now), I've gone from being Chicano to Hispanic to Mexican-American to Latina with no reason ever given for the change other than political-correctness. I've never heard there was a distinction between hispanic and latino, so do tell...

(FYI, my parentage is mostly Mexican with Spanish on my paternal grandfather's side)

It's College Board/recruiter horseshit, as I learned at a "minority-focused" college fair. (See, while I'm white as white can be, my mother is Peruvian, and that means that as far as Admissions offices are concerned, so am I.)

Some idiot has the gall to ASK if I'm a minority, and I respond, having known little about the fucking nits to be picked, "Yeah, I'm Hispanic."
"Oh, you're from Spain?"
"No, Peru."
"Then you're Latino. Hispanics are from Spain, that's what goes on the paperwork."

Since she needed to get on her high horse over such nonsense, I just walked away at that point, but the "lesson" sticks in my head.

(For the record, I'm Jewish on both sides, plus Peruvian on my mother's side.)

LOL, that's classic.

I did a little reading at wikipedia to see what they collectively said. It's interesting and amibiguous as most Wikis tend to be.

(same poster as before...I really need to get an account)
