Tuesday January 20th maks the date of a benefit show happening down at the Lucky Dog
5 great bands
5 measly dollars
1 great cause.
The busser (Jose) where I work (Ground Round in Shrewsbury) has been up here from Brazil for the past 3 years working without a day off to pay for his daughter's surgeries. Language barriers prevent me from finding out the exact diagnosis but her legs have almost no strength in them and she has had to walk on crutches her entire life. When she was born she was extremely pigeon toed but after 2 of the surgeries her legs are straight. One more surgery and she will hopefully be able to get off the crutches. Each surgery costs upwards of 20,000 dollars which is not easy for a busperson to earn.
Jose doesn't spend any money on himself and has not been able to see anyone in his family for the past 3 years. The last surgery is coming soon and my heart really went out to him so I decided to throw a benefit show.
All of these bands are playing on a tuesday night for free.
All of the money is going to Jose and his family.
I can't think of a better reason to go out on a tuesday night.
Plus, all of these bands are gonna rock your face off.
