Crazy stuff. You know how my house got struck by lightening last month? Well, a contractor came yesterday to repair the damage to the side of the house and he made quite the discovery. There was damage done to the water pipe...the electric current had surged through the copper water pipes which means our water was charged. If anyone was in the shower or doing dishes at the time, they would have been fried. Scary, huh? We had another bad storm last night. Two houses in the area got hit. My sister was riding home with her friends in the middle of it, poor thing was terrified. They saw one of the houses in Dunns Corners get hit. They were driving by when it happened. I hate this, I'm sick of being so scared of something I used to enjoy.
My house is going to be invaded by Japanese women this weekend. My mother's friend and her mother are coming and staying here for the weekend, taking over me and my sister's rooms. I call the camper!! So I have to organize and vaccum and stuff before they get here tomorrow. I've done pretty much NO cleaning since I got home from school, so it'll be a challenge. I like her friend's mother, she brings me presents. XD
I worked only one day this week. Monday I worked but had to leave early because I got hit with a massive headache. Tuesday I had off, but on Wednesday, my boss called in sick. And she's still sick and won't be able to work until Monday. She's got a really bad stomach thing, it doesn't sound good at all. I feel bad, I think she may have gotten it from me when I was sick. I just had a glorified cold, though, I didn't have any stomach problems at all. It's weird. Well, Sarah's next on the list, hope she's taking her Vitamin C. Oh, by the way, opening day has been pushed back yet again to August 17th. The original opening date was July first. At the rate we're going, I'll be at school by the time we're ready to open. It's really getting kind of frustrating. It seems like everything's going wrong except the big things. All the little things that we get in have something wrong with them like the crooked cabinet and the chalkboard with the wrong stain and stuff. But the big things are fine like the induction cooktops (AMAZING, I LOVE THEM!!), the paint jobs, the floor, etc. We're cancelling classes right and left because of stupid little things and it's so frustrating. I just want to open and settle into a routine, you know? All this sickness definitely isn't helping. And I'm getting about half the hours and the wages that I was expecting for the summer. It's a journey, I understand that, and it's a journey I was willing to undergo knowing that there were going to be setbacks and not much money involved. But I just feel bad that by the time we've finally opened and started classes and stuff, I'll be going back to school and not helping to get them settled. I won't be back working for them until at least Christmas. Well, she's got Sarah, and it's not like I'm holding them together or anything, they're fine without me, I just feel like her project has in part become my project and I want to be there when it's finally ready to be launched, you know?
The upside to all the time off this week is that I've been to the beach a few times. It's wet, sandy and salty as usual. Nothing new there. Oh, how I love it. I'll probably bring Leo again on Sunday. They've outlawed dogs at the Watch Hill beach for the first time that I can remember. I talked to one of the peoples and he said that it's probably because they're trying to protect the bird nests in the dunes. (There are some endangered birds that make the Watch Hill dunes their habitat.) However, he also said that it's not enforced which is good because that's the only beach I can think of that allows dogs. I mean, it's a wildlife protection area which is why they're so proactive about protecting the birds, but there are people that let their dogs run rampant everywhere. I mean, I understand that they want to let their dogs go for a swim, but they pay no attention to the fact that it's a wildlife preserve and have no respect for the leash laws. Or the pooper-scooper laws. Eeewwwww...
Well, I've finished my random thoughts. Tty'all lata, miss u sjc peoples!!
