This is particularly interesting to me as someone working with education projects in India through
Asha for Education. Race related disparities persist and even take root early. Asha donors often want to fund "poor" children's schools, but the truth is that integrated classrooms are better for ALL children (thanx for teaching me this
Madhulika ), and certainly better for the poorer children. For poor (or referenced by this article, Black) children to have a genuine chance to adjust their aspirations, they need to be able to normalize their perspectives alongisde classmates / peers who have greater access to resources, and therefore automatically "entitled" to loftier life goals. Apparently the U.S. is still some distance away from truly leveling the playing field on race.
