Modern masculinity

No knights in shining armor ride
Across dusty plains to court their bride
No steeds with wind swept manes have stayed
To witness fearsome dragons slayed

Lutes no more ring out ballads of love
Heavy swords no more sway above
No more do men their passions swear
By holding jousts for maiden fair

Today’s manhood is hard to show
While watching feminism grow
Men shave & sit & have a drink
They wield cell phones, they wear pink.

Last night, however, husband of mine
Donned armor with a mighty shine
A terrible task he undertook
To prove his love so I could cook

With drywall anchor, bolt & metal file
Masculinity went the extra mile
A hundred dollars he did save
By installing our new microwave

marriage, husband, manliness
