What I should have done a long time ago
I'm unofficially no longer an Education major. Strictly English, here, kiddos. Yeah thats right. I'm giving up on being a high school teacher through traditional means. It just feels right. I'm still planning to pursue TESOL certification and go to Europe to teach English at a language school somewhere. Then, I'm coming back and guess what> I'm going in Public Relations, bitches. Cuz I can. I'm pretty excited about it. I don't have any more stress in my life that I can't handle. English is going to be good for me and while it may not land me a job immediatly, my skills in communication and writing are going to be lifelong assets. Hey, I should write the catalog description hahahaha.
In other news, I am home. Yes, in boring little Owensboro. Only its not that boring anymore. And definitely getting larger everyday. Last night, a guy held his ex-girlfriend hostage in her apartment, keeping vigil with an M-16 on her porch. The police had to shoot him with rubber pellets to clear it all up. Crazy, and it was like, maybe 100 feet from my door?? Even crazier. They had a police blockade across the road and an ambulance waiting down the street. Creepy....and see, people dont believe me when I say I live in the ghetto.
Summer has been OK. I dont really have any friends here - I mean, anyone I would be friends with from high school either completely moved when they left for college, or they are stuck in high school, if you know what I mean. Lol. But hey, thats what Myspace is for, apparently. I'm finding all kinds of people to talk to and sometimes to hang out with. Plus I already made a trip to Columbia to see Trista and my friend Carl from the Cayman Islands. I love Trista!!! I would have seen Heather too, but the biatch is in Italy! Lol <3 ya kiddo. Anyways, Carl is the coolest. Absolute nicest guy ever. And watch out, cuz him and his twin may be in the Olympis someday. I actually wouldnt doubt it. They are super athletic. Anyway, we hung out and watched a movie. Good times. Hopefully more to come in the fall!
So yeah. I leave for my AWESOME vacation on Thursday. We are going to Cocoa Beach for Thurs. and Friday, then we get on the ship Saturday afternoon. We are CRUISIN to the Virgin Islands and the Bahamas. Wonderfulness. Then I get to spend a wonderful 21st birthday with my aunt on Clearwater Beach, which I am MOST excited about!!! Free drinks to the cute girl from Kentucky!! Oh wait...lol. Anyways, we will be back on June 4.
That gives me precisely 9 days to get ready for my summer in Maine. Or havent you hearD?? I am going to be teaching music at a summer camp in Smithfield, ME all summer at Camp Matoaka!!! I leave out June 14 and will be back August 13. But dont worry, ducky, I will have my cell phone (nationwide service) and internet access the whole time. Dont fret!! I will be in contact.
