I'm trying to find flights from somewhere in my area to Sacramento, CA.

I tried entering tons of different departure and arrival dates (in August, thats when we want to go) and I'm not able to find anything under 300 dollars a person.
It's making me sick to my stomach.

Does anyone know how to productively search flight prices so i can spend less?

Try the airlines' websites directly. I usually get a better deal that way.

I checked Southwest and right now they're only accepting reservations until August 3... so just keep an eye out. It might be too early to book a flight.

But I'm pulling on Southwest's site:
Hartford/BDL to Sacramento, leaving Friday August 1:
Wanna Get Away Rates ranged from $266 to $212, with layovers. If you leave from Hartford, you'll definitely have layovers. I don't think that there's any airline that has direct to CA flights from Hartford.

I added Hartford to Sacramento to my Ding! program from Southwest for you, to keep an eye out on rates. Ding is a program Southwest has that you can download to your desktop that has web only deals on airfare and stuff. That's how I get those $35 flights to Hartford from BWI.

I checked other airports around CT too. If you leave from Providence, it's $164 to Sacramento with no stops.

But the best advice I have is KEEP TRYING. And avoid those cheap ticket flights. It's better to book directly with the airline. A lot of the airlines have loyalty programs, too... so look into that.
