I've read so many less books in the past year than I ever have (well, if you count school reading as reading something) and watched more tv than I have in my entire life. Part of it is being married to a tv addict, who is nice and encourages me in shows that I like (buffy!!! (since I've seen every inuyasha there is so far)) and part of it is my commute is 1/3 of what it used to be, and I would often read the entire train ride. So I read the Metro (free paper) on the way in and do Metro's crossword on the way out. But I"m proud to say, that yesterday, I started a book on a longer train ride home from my occasional job (where I do bank rec's for a restaurant 1nce or 2ice a month) and proceeded to work out on the elliptical (so I could read there) and then at home, I even read next to CHris while he was watching tv! That's harder to do, and I can't always do it, but by then I was so into "the best of everything" by Rona Jaffe that I could successfulyl block out eddie murphy's detroit cop bungling around in hollywood. Since I had a bit of subway reading time this morning, I'm now at page 171. Not too shabby! YEAH BOOKS!!!!!!! This isn't exactly an escapism book, as it's set in NYC (and let me tell you, her descriptions of sticky summers here are spot on) and working career girls, but it's very interesting and fun. A bit of romance, some lecherous old men, career vs. family, yeah 60s. As the author said in the forward, "some things have stayed the same and some have come back" But now I don't want to work, I want to read!!!!
