[ I'm sure you all know this look. It's a look of a sort of disappointed annoyance. It's that look your friends give you when you tell the same pun for the third time and still expect it to be funny. It was never funny. Just give up already. ]

After being here a week, I've come to a few realizations.

There's no hierarchy, no discipline, no ( Read more... )

What have you been trying to get done? The thought does count some.

I've been trying to find a way to see what's going on at home, figure out how this place works, and how I can help. So far I haven't found anything particularly uplifting.

I do have to admit that I wouldn't mind knowing for certain that nothing back at the station has gone horribly wrong without me...

What have you found, though? Even if it is depressing. I'm new myself, and I think there's merit in knowing anything, even if it turns out to be unimportant. You can always forget it again later.

I...also must admit that I find myself interested in seeing what kind of show an anxious knight puts on when she's had a bit to drink. I saw Buffalo Bill's Wild West show, and it was very gripping, even before that man got murdered. I also saw The Great Farini fire a man out of a cannon, although I've since been told she was actually a woman. I'm not sure why he didn't just say so; that seems even more impressive.

I can scry within the ship just fine, but everything outside is hidden by this bizarre swirl of colors. I have no clue what that means.

I'm sure it would be appropriately raucous and pointless.

Maybe the spirits want you to check your cards.

So...jousting, or no?

What cards?

Is that an offer, or a suggestion? I didn't think to bring my horse with me.

Oh. Uh, the Gypsy had cards.

I haven't ever, but I'd try my hand at it. I...can't brag about my equestrian prowess, but I can sit a horse. Mostly. If it doesn't move too unexpectedly. Have you ever ridden a bicycle? I find them more predictable.

I've never heard of them, but if you can barely sit on a horse you would do miserably at jousting.

I didn't say barely. I'd say...moderately. I can moderately sit a horse. And you can't be sure: I might surprise you. I suspect I won't, but I might do.

A bicycle is a device that you ride on. With wheels. And you make the wheels turn with your legs.

Are there any on board? [ That sounds interesting :| ]

I don't know. I didn't bring mine; it belongs to the station. But I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to ask...whoever it is you ask here. I don't know who that is, though.

I don't know either.

So we would have to ask that first.

I suppose we would. Oh well.

I'll tell you what: I'll look into it, and get back to you. I'm almost positive you could joust on a bicycle.

If nothing else, it sounds like an interesting device.
