It's time to put on the pink Northface jackets, ladies.
I could see my breath today for the first time this year as I waded through a sea of Penn State pride on my way to work today. The leaves are changing already; it's kind of sad to think that this is probably my last fall in this town. Lately I've been spending a lot of time thinking about the future. I was in NYC for the last two days wondering if it would be where I ended up this time next year. It's definitely on the short list, barring any
enhanced-orange terror alert levels in the future.
I took time off of work and skipped classes to take an early weekend and head to the city with lil' Joe. He wrote his story about coming out to his frat and had it published in a compilation book...which I'm pretty sure reads like Chicken Soup for the Gay Frat Boy's Soul. He didn't have anyone to go with to the release party, so I dusted off my car and we took a road trip. It felt good to give the State College bar scene a break for something more exotic.....such as a club that had
giant beds everywhere and burlesque dancers with boobie tassels. It was lots of eye candy and lots of loud music, and I'm pretty sure a random woman gave me a lapdance on a bed.
I had a great time-- but driving back was a completely different beast. The combination of leaving at five (idiot decision) and torrential downpours/accidents on 80 caused a four hour trip to last just under eight hours. Joe and I had enough long talks to last a lifetime, but it felt good to just sit(drive) and talk about life for once. It reminded me that I don't always have to be going out with my friends to have a good time....hanging out at the apartment and just talking has its merits, too.
Next week is the Philly trip to reunite with the gov-school homies as a group for the first time in years. After that, a D.C. trip to see navit and erin is in order.
All these road trips reminds me of
jeepskank, who I -need- to go to Texas with. I want to see Austin or Dallas before this school year ends.
