I used my passes today, one for myself and the other for my sister, at the Great Escape. Heather, Bri(gitta), Shane, and Jen also came. Driving was alright, I actually made it there without getting stopped OR ticketed! AWESOME! Yay for Jen Arbige and her poor communication skills over the cell phone to her father, who was supposed to meet us to give her a discount ticket to the park. We actually had to upll over somewhere farther into Rt 67, turn around and go back a couple miles, wait around at a random gas station, then turn back around and actually drive back to the place we'd stopped and pulled around originally. Heather: "Ask your dad if he passed the intersection full of police cars yet." Jen: "Did you pass the police intersection yet?" Me: "Give the phone to Heather, Jen. Jen, give it to Heather. Just give the phone to Heather." But we finally made it there in good time. The park was reeeeally hot. Laying in the lazy river was fun, and standing under Paul Bunyan's Bucket. That was satisfyingly refreshing. But after awhile it just got sooo hot, and I thought I would keel over if I did not soon find a stand or working drink machine that sold Limeade. And finally, after Bri and Shane had to leave because of work, I spotted one. LIMEADE IS SOOOO FREAKIN' GOOOD!!!!! And I'd just like to point out that Heather never once stopped to count if everyone was still with the group. I think she's finally ready to let us go... *tear* She's been an extremely guiding mother to us all. And now it's time to let her go... Just remember to watch for cars!!!
But seriously, I think my favorite part of the day was not Great Escape itself but walking around Lake George afterward. We went to this awesome mafia-themed restaurant and ordered a pizza, and we walked out of there knowing a bit more slang (as it was written on our table). We got to watch the guy twirling the dough around. Pretty neat stuff. So we ordered, we ate, and bada-bing bada-bang we were outta there. We walked down to the beach and sank our feet into beautiful, icy Lake George... until a woman brought her little toddler daughter in NAKED to.. well, I believe, to pee. That was about it for everyone else. Then we got ice cream and Jen got carmel corn, and we headed home.
It was going well until we hit over 40 mph. Something on top of my car starting to rattle... it got worse. It was like a machine gun shooting at our roof! Turns out something broke that was supposed to hold my windshield to the roof of my car and it was just flopping around and making a terribly LOUD rumble in the process. The northway got to be pretty hilarious actually. Heather's got her arm out the window, holding onto the broken piece, shoving carmel corn into my mouth, as I'm concentrating driving on the road with the extreme volume of the radio that we turned up to try and hide the machine gun. Jen is in the back singing away, trying to shout over the machine gun and blasting radio, "DOES ANYONE WANT MORE CARMEL CORN??... YOU KNOW YOU REALLY GET USED TO THE NOISE AFTER AWHILE, IT JUST SOUNDS NATURAL!!" "What???" "THE NOISE!!" "Yeah!" "IT JUST SOUNDS NATURAL!!" "What?" etc etc etc...
Heather, even though it made your hand numb, thank you so much for your help! "The boss of the boss."
It was a really fun day trip. Definitely.
