So I'm at college! So weird. Frosh O (freshman orientation) from Friday-Sunday was pretty fun. Kinda crazy at times, but fun. I'm in Howard Hall and we did lots of hall-related fun activities, and also activities with different boys' dorms. My hall is awesome! It's the second smallest girls' dorm but that's good because there's less people to get to know and we can get really close. Our mascot is the ducks, which sounds kind of stupid but in comparison is actually a pretty good/cute mascot. Our dorm even gave us lanyards to hang our keys and ID cards on, which is SO helpful. Umm let's see what else...we have an amazing location right on South quad, like a stone's throw from South Dining Hall. Also near us is the Coleman-Morse thingy (campus ministry HQ and awesome student lounge...and the place of my NEW choir rehearsal!), the Rocne Memorial gym/athletic/work-out place, and umm other stuff. We're not too far from LaFortune Student Center (fast food + bank +lounge +ballroom + convenience store), or the Basilica or grotto, or really anything...I love my location!! W00t!!
So what else have a I done so far? Eaten meals at the dining hall (REALLY good food), worked out at the Roc (Rocc? Go me!! Ran (with walking breaks) 3 miles today!!), explored random buildings, gotten a ticket to The Show (an annual concert the first week of school, this Friday, this year with Third Eye Blind and Common, whoever the latter is I do not know), gotten my freshman register AKA the Dog Book (basically a directory of students, with pictures), gotten my books and some ND apparel at the bookstore, attended part of a boys' soccer game, gotten my football ticket lottery # (complex system to seeing who gets good football seats, and mine aren't too bad! very close to the best actually)...lots of other things too! Oh auditioned for choir. And guess what?! I made it into the Women's Liturgical Choir! I get to sing every Saturday night at the Basilica. I'm a little sad because I've been in a women's choir (at my all-girls high school) for how many years now...but oh well, I'm sure it'll still be fun. I should be glad I made it into any choir!
Then today was my first class, Theology. I have it with my friend Alicia and it seems pretty good. The professor is nice and entertaining, and we don't have too many papers and only one exam, the final, part of which will be oral (YES!). Tomorrow I have five classes from about 9:40-3 with only 15 minute breaks! Spanish, PE, Calc, Biology and Psychology! And the buildings go DeBartolo Rocne DeBartolo Jordan DeBartolo! How annoying is that! Grrr. Oh well. Tomorrow night is my first choir rehearsal and my first 3rd floor Howard meeting. The latter is in our Howard Chapel which is very nice! I will like to go pray there sometimes...I love how ND has chapels in every dorm!!!!
I also have some new friends, YAY! My friends Alicia and Samantha are both in different dorms, but we met each other online before we came here. The joys of facebook! We found each other because all of our boyfriends will be freshmen at BC (Boston College...ND's big rival!) this year. Kind of a random common link...but they're both super nice and we like hanging out, AND we all don't drink! SCORE!!
Well anyways. Better get moving on to other things...Oh one last thing. Here are some pictures of my dorm room! It's tiny and narrow and there is NO ROOM between my bed and the ceiling! I have like six inches once I lay down....gah. Luckily I'm small, I don't know what normal size people do. *sweatdrop* First a "before" pic, then "after" pics!
In case it's not clear, my desk, drawers, and closet area are under my bed...We switched it around so the window would be by my desk, instead of blocked by the furniture.
There we go. Any questions on stuff just ask, I typed up a bunch of descriptions on facebook as well if you have one.
