February 22nd, 2003. A data which will live in my heart and mind forever and never be forgotten. That day we lost two very special people. They were the most caring people anyone could ever ask for in their lives.
It was a typical cold, but sunny winter Saturday two weeks, to the day, after I turned 18. I had to go out and help the family get the land ready for the animls and barn. I could only help a little because I then had to head into work. I got into work and started at 5pm, and was scheduled to host that night. I was up front counting my drawer out when Shirley, Jessica, Rindy and Matt come in the door. I knew something was up because you would never ever see these four together, they all had this unexplainable look on their faces and Jessica had a box of kleenex in her hand. Shirley told the manager she needed to talk to me. They sat me down in the waiting area of the restraunt I work at. Rindy sat next to me and immediatly wrapped her arms around me. That is when Shirley told me the news "Today around noon, Kieth, Mariah and Brandon were in a car accident. Brandon is ok, but both Kieth and Mariah killed." I was in shock and wasnt sure what to do. I just sat there for a few minutes. I then had to get up and tell the managers. I started to, but couldnt even finish and so Shirley did. At that point I left and hung out at Rindy's house and tried to get some sleep, which didnt happen.
Kieth was a very loving person. He put his family, both church and home, above anything else in the world. He was very much a father to more then just his own kids. He was like a father to much of the youth group, but I dont think many realized till it was to late. He was a great loss to the world and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mariah at 8 years old touched more people lives then many people touch in a lifetime. She was a very lively, but shy girl. She was always running around w/a smile on her face. She was many times hiding behind Kieth. They were very close, we all said Kieth is probalby up playin barbies with her in heaven. She just had this affect on everyone when you saw her you had to smile. She will be greatly missed by the many, many hearts she touched.
RIP Kieth and Mariah Feb. 22nd 2003
