"In modern versions, the stepsisters try to force Cinderella’s glass slipper on their own feet, only to be frustrated and disappointed when the slipper doesn’t fit. The original story shows the stepsisters’ extreme determination and brutality: since their feet don’t fit in the slipper, they just cut off pieces of their feet that don’t fit. They slice off parts of their toes and heel, and then try to shove their feet into the increasingly bloody slipper."

taken from here.

Really, who would go to such extremes to fit in a slipper? Fairy tales are irrealistic enough in the modern versions, but the original ones show that the people who wrote them didn't have much of a grip on reality, either. Even if I hated my sister I don't think I'd chop my feet off just to get the prince's attention. And I don't think the prince would be blind enough to think that a girl with chopped feet and a face completely different from the girl he danced with would be said girl. Jesus.

This while I was searching for those horrible hyrogliphs people call writing for Mel's translation thing... I wish Robin would hurry up, I hate being stuck doing this while I could be playing Locoroco 2. Mello's impatient too and that doesn't help, poor thing.
