History:
Rosette and her younger brother Joshua were orphaned at a very young age. This created a very special bond between the two siblings, who were taken in by in the Seventh Bell Orphanage, in the peaceful countryside of Michigan. They lived there for a few years, being taken care of by the kind Mrs. Jean, but their happiness didn’t last long. The strong, cheerful, strong-willed Rosette had always been very protective of Joshua, who had extraordinary healing powers, yet he himself was constantly sick due to the strain his powers put on his body. The Magdalan Order, a militaristic religious organization, took an interest in Joshua and sent Father Remington to the orphanage in order to convince him to join them, but Rosette, not wanting to be separated from her brother, decided to drag him away from the orphanage just about every time Remington tried to visit. On one such escape, the two hid in the forest for a while until Remington went away. While wandering in the forest, Rosette and Joshua accidentally stumbled upon a big mausoleum hidden in an underground passage, and when they opened the door, they found what they least expected to see: a child, about their own age, in a very miserable condition. The child turned out to be Chrono, a demon who had been sealed inside the tomb of a very special person for more than 50 years. Rosette took pity on him, and not caring who he really was, generously offered him some cookies. This simple act of kindness deeply moved Chrono, and it was the start of a very special friendship between the two.

Chrono, Rosette and Joshua frequently met in secret in their “special place” beside the forest. This continued for some time, until Joshua, tired of being protected by Rosette and wanting to become strong for her sake, suddenly decided to join the Magdalan Order. Rosette, crying, went to Chrno’s side seeking comfort, but the two of them were interrupted by the demon Aion, a former comrade of Chrono. Aion made an offer to Chrono: forgiving his past “mistakes” and returning his horns if Chrono decided to re-join him and his former allies, The Sinners. Demons needed their horns in order to use the energy of the Astral Line, the source of life of every living being in the planet. A demon like Chrono, who lost his horns in a fight against Aion several decades ago, not only was unable to use his powers, but was also condemned to a slow death, since total depletion of Astral energy meant death to demons.

Aion had always been very ambitious, and Chrono, who only wanted to be at peace, refused his offer. Aion then gave Chrono’s horns to Joshua, who also played an important part in his scheme by actually being an Apostle. Chrono had been using the form of a child in order to minimize his usage of Astral energy, but sensing that Joshua was in real danger, used the last of his powers to regain his true form, a young man with huge dark wings, and quickly took Rosette to Joshua’s side.

Joshua, overwhelmed by the power of Chrono’s horns, quickly lost his sanity and used a time freeze to turn everything around him into stone, including the rest of the kids who lived in the orphanage. Rosette tried to shake Joshua out of his demented state, but Chrono, seeing her in danger, immediately took her away to a safe place.

Joshua was kidnapped by Aion and Rosette asked Chrono for his help in order to rescue him and the people at the orphanage who had been frozen. Chrono, however, was very low in Astral energy, and was unable to do anything for them, unless he found somebody willing to make a contract with him. Rosette then asked Chrono what a contract was, and was shocked to hear the answer: hornless demons such as him needed an alternative source of energy, which was the remaining lifetime (or soul) of a person who wanted to make a contract with them in order to grant his or her wishes. The soul of the person would then become the power source of the demon, and his or her life would reduce drastically every time the demon used his powers. In addition to that, the person would suffer terribly every time his or her life was used. If Rosette wanted to make a contract with Chrono, she would be in constant pain and would only live for a short amount of time. Would she be able to bear with it in order to save her brother and her friends at the orphanage? Rosette said she would, and begged Chrono to make a contract with her. Chrono, sad for what he had to do, yet moved by Rosette’s determination, agreed to help her. Chrono then used an ancient pocketwatch, which was always hanging around his neck, as the symbol of their contract. The pocketwatch then became a seal for Chrono’s powers and an indicator of Rosette’s remaining lifetime.

Shortly after Rosette and Chrono made the contract, Remington, who was near the orphanage when everything happened, returned and took them to live at the NY headquarters of the Magdalan Order. Rosette was constantly bullied by the rest of the girls her age due to the rumor that she had made a contract with a demon, but despite this, she soon became a popular member of the order, with a little help from Elizabeth, a special friend of hers, who quickly realized how much Rosette and Chrono cared for each other. Rosette trained very hard to become an exorcist, that is, a nun who could fight against the many monsters that roamed the surroundings, and she succeeded despite her rebellious attitude and her ability for getting into trouble. Chrono, being a demon, was always seen with suspicion by everyone in the Magdalan Order, especially Sister Kate, the headmistress of the NY branch, but since Rosette’s life was irrevocably connected to his, he was allowed to be beside Rosette as her assistant. Their life together at the Magdalan Order was a constant headache for Sister Kate, thanks to Rosette and Chrono’s big trouble-making abilities, yet they both lived happily for almost 4 years, until they were sent to a very special mission...

The new mission Rosette and Chrono were assigned to, was to rescue a young girl by the name of Azmaria Hendrick from the clutches of her evil foster father, who wanted to use the supernatural powers she had for his own twisted plans. Azmaria was an Apostle, that is, a person able to use the powers of the Astral Line. Rosette and Chrono succeeded in their mission and brought Azmaria to live with them at the NY convent of the Magdalan Order. Shortly afterwards, while meeting a contact in the NY train station, Remington was attacked by the Puppet Master Demon, who had taken hostage of station to lure out and capture Rosette of all people. Arriving at the station of pick up Remington, Rosette was where the demon wanted her, who then told Rosette that Joshua was waiting for her. Remington took this moment as a distraction and released the hostages, having Rosette shoot at the demon and scaring it off. It turned out Remington was confirming news that Rosette’s brother was seen in San Francisco.

Rosette, Chrono and Azmaria were given permission to go there to look for him, Rosette with her rank promoted to Militia, the first Class Exorcist, and Azmaria as her apprentice. Not even outside New York City, the three were having car problems when they met a mysterious woman, by the name of Satella Harvenheit, who was a jewel witch, that is, a person able to use the power of magic jewels. Satella, like Rosette, also fought against demons and was also looking for someone: her older sister, who had been kidnapped by a hornless demon 10 years ago. Satella, at first, was highly suspicious of Chrono, but she soon realized he was not the demon she was looking for, and decided to accompany Rosette, Azmaria and Chrono to the West Coast to look for her sister, despite the constant fights between Rosette and her. Ditching the car for a train, the group had another run in with the puppet master demoness that Rosette met before. It was revealed that Rizelle, the demoness, was working under direct orders of Aion to bring Rosette to San Francisco since Joshua was becoming more and more unstable. They managed to fight off and kill Rizelle, though the train was heavily damaged during the attack.

The group finally managed to get an undisturbed flight to San Francisco with some of the Chicago Division of the Magdalan Order since the San Francisco Branch was understaffed.

Personality:

Rosette, though she often gives the erroneous impression of being a violent, gun-crazy teenager, is actually a caring, generous, sensitive girl. Despite being very young, she is very wise in her own practical, clumsy way. She understands the feelings of the people that are close to her, and always tries to comfort them by doing rather crazy stuff in order to cheer them up.

Rosette hates to see people suffering, and will stop at nothing to make them forget about their troubles, whatever the consequences are. Though Rosette is a very strong person, she constantly hides the fear for her future and the sadness over the loss of her brother under a cheerful mask. She knows people have their own problems to worry about, and doesn’t want anybody to keep worrying over her. Though she knows she would feel better if she only shared her concerns with others, she also knows that she is strong enough to bear with her problems by herself, and often forgets about them by joking with her friends or by creating mischief. She really doesn’t like to be protected and prefers to protect those she loves instead.

Rosette is a very passionate person, and her big desire to protect those who are important to her can have negative consequences sometimes. She is also completely focused on one objective, and she often forgets her own feelings in order to concentrate in reaching her goal. It’s been taking her a lot of time to finally realize how deep her feelings for Chrono really were, because she’s completely focused on saving her brother. Rosette does learn from her mistakes though, and she doesn't hesitate in correcting her own mistakes as soon as possible. She also does not blame people for their own mistakes, rather, she puts the past behind and gives them a new chance, never allowing her resentment to get in the way. Rosette is often rebellious and impatient, has a very strong temper and gets angry very easily, but she also forgets her anger in an instant and doesn’t harbor any grudges. The strongest virtue Rosette has, however, is her strong convictions and her “never give up” policy. Rosette is willing to sacrifice everything she has in order to achieve her goals, and though she has a big love for life, she is willing to give up on it and live a very short time in order to help the people she cares about, namely, Joshua and Chrono. This doesn’t keep her from having an intense desire to live her life to the fullest though, so she never complains about the hardships of her own life and just lives every day without thinking about her past or her future. Rosette’s life has never been easy, yet she is determined to be strong so people who are weak can rely on her.

This attitude of Rosette is a real life-saver for all the people that are close to her who often feel inspired and motivated to follow her example and fight to the end instead of just giving up.

Strengths & Special Abilities:

Rosette has no powers or incredible gifts. As a result, Rosette had trained long and hard to get to where she is. Her body is trained as an exorcist, to fight other-worldy beings that are likely bigger and stronger than she is. She’s a really good shot, but more follows a “shoot until it hits something” policy, making her skills in combat effective, but wholly unrefined. What she is good at is using her surroundings as an advantage. She’s quick on her feet and can formulate pretty ingenious strategy while under pressure from the enemy.

The most “magical” part about Rosette is her control over Chrono’s powers, since she has full control over the seal. Though Chrono can actually break the seal, it only happens when he is under an extreme amount of distress.

Where is their brand located?: On the right side of her chest, right under the clavicle.

Are you keeping this character's memories from a previous game? No.
If so, why?

Are you applying for an original character? No.
If so, explain why:

1st Person Sample:
[Is…is that a nun?]

I can’t believe this.

[That’s a nun, even if the habit looks really, really off. Rosette’s been pacing around for some time, it’s likely she hadn’t even noticed the datalog has been recording her.]

After fighting off demons halfway across the country, after sitting for hours on a plane and thinking I’ve finally made it to San Francisco…this happens.

YOU’VE GOT TO BE JOKING! This…this has to be some kind of sick and twisted dream. Some kind of weird magic spell from a warlock or…I DON’T KNOW. SOMETHING!

[Hurriedly picking up her pocketwatch, she proceeds to yell at that too.]

I seriously don’t have time for this. Chrono! Get me out of here! Come on, answer me already dammit!

[Well shaking it doesn’t warrant a response, but Rosette does notice something off about it.]

The hands…they’re not…

3rd Person Sample:
Too weird.

A peaceful village in a scenic piece of nowhere. No demons to fight. Hell, not even an old nag to argue with. In all purpose, one could call this paradise.

So why didn’t it feel like one?

Life seemed to fall into such a monotony around in this little village. Days just came and went, even with a Focus or whatever it was called keeping some timer on her. Frankly, Rosette felt more on edge here than anywhere else she’s been. And that feeling wasn’t likely to change any time soon. The fal’Cie just had her in some glorified jail, nothing more. A timer just like back at home, but unlike home, the restrictions were impossible to ignore. Just leaving was impossible, since there appeared to be nothing in any direction.

A sigh escaped her as Rosette fell backwards on her bed. Boring. Weird. No matter what she could call this place, it didn’t change the fact she was stuck. She picked up the pocketwatch that was always around her neck, again watching the face. The seconds ticked, but all the hands were stuck in place. This was her timer from home; the time she had left to find Joshua before her soul was completely devoured. “Heh. No matter where I go, there’s always some kind of timer. Irony.” Joshua was gone. Chrono. Azmaria. Hell, even Satella. Rosette really was completely alone here, wasn’t she?

Thinking like that really doesn’t sit well with this girl. Frustrated, Rosette sat up and angrily scratched at her hair. “Dammit! Just what am I supposed to do now?” Not really thinking straight, she flung a pillow against the wall like it really was going to do something. Seeing it fall to the floor, it didn’t. Didn’t even help at all with this frustration that was raising by the minute.

She had to come up with something.

Questions? What are the chances she at least has her sidearm here?

amicitiam, application
