This has been coming a long time, actually. Daine has been increasingly despondent since Kaoru died, and I just can't see her staying on any longer. She's a seventh year, so she'll graduate in NPC land and go down as the Head Girl who scored the most men/women in the history of forever. Needless to say, she didn't get that TA position, and instead ended up at the Ministry, doing great things in the Magical Creatures department!
