I was at the High Museum yesterday to soak in some culture on my time off. I really enjoyed the Folk Art section but the best moment came from the Modern Art section. There was a large room with a single geometric shape on each wall. Beside each piece was a tiny little paper that gave the title and creator of the piece. No matter how little I think of a piece, I always read the title because that's just the way I am.
The first piece was a red angle thingy. I looked at the title: Red Angle.
Well okay then.
I walked across the room to a green crescent thing. It was a long walk on very sore legs. I caught myself thinking that the title could not possibly be worth catching but I kept walking. I got to the tiny piece of paper and read : Green Crescent.
Well shit. I should have seen that coming. The next piece was this white shape that I couldn't identify. As I walked to it, I racked my brain for whatever geometric shape would apply to it. It was too curvy to be most of the shapes I knew. I was a little disappointed to read it was simply : White Panel.
Of course it was. The last piece was in the same shape except it was black. Now, I could have walked away and taken the exit at this point. I could have moved on but no, I figured I've already walked a mile to see all the first three, I might as well walk up and confirm that the black thing was Black Panel.
The name tag declared it as 'Untitled'.
White shapey thing =White Panel. Black shapey thing = Untitled.
I think I giggled for a good ten minutes.
