too much TV, not enough goodness

We were at the funeral home four and a half hours Friday night. I was exhausted by the time we got home, but even then, I couldn't sleep. I was glad to see family I normally do not get to see. When I was growing up, my cousins Lance and Laura were two of my favorite playmates. Both are older than I am, Laura by seven years and Lance by ten, but they were kind to me as a child. I have seen Lance, who is gay (not a popular quality in our family), once in the last ten years, so I was thrilled to spend a little time with him Friday. Their mother, Becky, has shock-white hair, like Miranda Priestly, and she still calls me baby girl. She's had and done both all my life. She's one of my favorite relatives, and she told me Friday she wanted me to know she loves me and I've always been her favorite. Despite the circumstances, it was a nice night. It's a pity it takes such events to bring us all together.

That afternoon, my sister and I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It was good, not as great as I'd hoped, but good. I really like Tonk. Natalia Tena is awesome, as is Helena Bonham Carter, who I have been a fan of for years. She's a wide-ranging actress and has chosen a few unique roles. If anyone wants spoilers, just ask. Otherwise I'm going to keep my mouth shut. Not everyone likes to know the ending before the beginning.

We saw previews for Stardust, Enchanted, and something else. Michelle Pfeiffer is in Stardust. She looked hellish and divine. She does that well.

I watched Daphne, with Geraldine Somerville and Elizabeth McGovern, yesterday as I was reorganizing my closet. Anyone seen it?

Although I read a lot this weekend, I also watched more television and movies than I have in a very long time. I watched the first season of Buffy. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the first few seasons of it and Charmed, which I do not own but need to. I watched several episodes of TBJ, as well as River Wild and Big Fish. I watched the new Lili Taylor's new show State of Mind on Lifetime. It was all right, so I'm going to give it another chance. I also watched a couple of episodes of Bindi: The Jungle Girl and my favorite episode of Matlock.

Way too much of the idiot box. I think I fulfilled my quota for the next two months.

I did not get to watch Kristin on The View this morning because I was stuck at my desk, but I did record her. I can't wait to hear what she has to say.

The Closer had a good start last night. Brenda making a request of Gabriel before realizing he was not there: Very nice touch. And Mrs. Landingham shows up everywhere. I liked Brenda's outfit. She matched Flynn instead of Gabriel last night in the beginning before the next day when she switched to matching Gabriel again. It was symbolic.

In a commercial for Saving Grace, there is a Dixie Chick's song playing in the background, which is almost enough to make me not watch.

tonks, the closer, ramblings, harry potter
