Ok, so here are better pictures than the cell shot yesterday.
The cake itself is a butter chocolate cake with a whipped white chocolate ganache filling (think of a white chocolate mousse but a touch lighter) and a thin crisp wafer layer of white chocolate.
The tools are all hand poured white chocolate, and hand painted. The yellow handles is a nod towards the recipients cherished faded yellow 69 Chevelle. The nuts and bolts and spark plugs are also hand poured white chocolate and hand painted.
The red shop rag is chocolate fondant dyed red, and painted with edible paint to create the oil stains. Because after all, have you ever seen a mechanic without an oily shop rag?!?! *lol*
So except for the board the cake sits on, this thing is 100% edible.
I think it came out pretty damn well. Tire and tools...this thing was a blast to put together!
Oh, and of course there are oil schmears on the tools and the 'happy birthday' (also poured chocolate), just for good measure ;)
