Thinking of Swimming in the Ohio River? Think Again.

Nov 29, 2006 16:02

A local angler, fishing in the Ohio, caught an 18-inch red-bellied piranha. You read that right. A piranha! Those amazonian lovelies that can skeletonize a cow in 2.3 seconds. That's a pic of one as my icon. Nice, innit? A fish and wildlife rep identified the fish and said it was most likely from someones private aquarium. This happened about 8 ( Read more... )

A piranha?! An 18-inch piranha?!
How did it end up in the river -- do they think somebody dumped it there?

*shakes head*
Ohio is getting stranger by the second...

That's what they think happened. But you never can tell for sure. It could be some nefarious fish plot.

Piranhas in the river and seventy degree temps on the last day of November.

Strange doesn't even come close!

I'm not sure a fish plot could be anything other than nefarious... ;-) Especially those involving piranhas!

Yeah, the weather has been a bit bizarre this week, huh? The wind has just started blowing something fierce here -- apparently the wife of one of my co-workers just called to say she watched a tree squash an SUV in their parking lot... I am *not* looking forward to the drive home...

Strange doesn't even come close!
hee, Truer words were never spoken.

That's a very good point. I'm glad I don't fish. *shudders*

JEEZ!! It's dropped about 20 degrees since I got up this morning. And we went to Wal-Mart (to get ready in case there's a blizzard) and on the way home...there was a tree blown down just past Reno!! I'm going to start looking for farmhouses if this keeps up!

Be careful going home/I hope the drive home was uneventful (depending on when you read this).

*shakes head in disbelief*

hee, I know, I'm glad I don't fish either... Can you imagine catching a piranha?! I mean, people wouldn't even have to go through the whole "the fish was this BIG"-thing cause surely catching a piranha trumps fish of most sizes...

It is ridiculously cold out now... I'm interested in seeing if our decorations are still attached tomorrow... Did your power go out? Our lights kept flickering at the end of work...

The drive home was surprisingly uneventful, thank you! The wind was only really bad when I got out towards the farms -- all those big open spots without anything to stop it... But I'm here, safe and sound.

I've been doing a bit of reading about piranha (I finished the dictionary *wink*); apparently the red-bellied ones are very good eating. *looks a bit anxiously at the kitchen*

Hee! Seven no-trump and grand slam! And if they argue; you can sic your fish on them!

We saw a lot of decorations down when we went to the store. I hope yours are OK.

Whew! Good. It's no fun driving when your car is being blown all over the road!
