Halloween Madness

Oct 30, 2006 09:57

Even though the official holiday isn't until tomorrow; here in Newport it's all over but for the pigging out on leftover pixie stix and snickers bars. I hope everyone has/had just as good a time as I did.

Here are some Halloween pics for your enjoyment.

A couple of the pumpkins I carved:

Yay! Pictures!

Your pumpkins look great! I usually turn pumpkin carving over to my dad, as I'm a little to clumsy to be trusted with sharp knives!

And your costume!! Eee! Very cool! The sword looks especially realistic in the photo!

I've had a good Halloween so far -- I've had candy corn and pumpkin seeds, and really, those are the two things that make Halloween for me!

Happy Halloween!

Good old Dad! Where would we be without them?

The sword is *snicker* my Dad's; loaned to me for the occasion.

My cat likes candy corn (really!) and we always roast the seeds from our pumpkins. Found a neat recipe for pumpkin seed brittle that I'd like to try.

Happy Halloween to you as well!

BOO!

Hee, the cat likes it? Really? I bet our horses might go for it; they like sweets... Actually, our one cat might -- she really likes icing, so perhaps candy corn would be close enough.... If I get sick of the stuff, I might try giving it to her!

Pumpkin seed brittle sounds really tasty! If you try it, you'll have to let me know how it turns out!

Thank you!

Eeek! ;-)

He does! He doesn't eat it all the time, but we keep it out in a dish in the living room and periodically we'll find what's left of a piece on the floor. He doesn't do icing though. And I'm sure the cat and the horses would appreciate the offer!

I will! I just wish I could give you some. :(

HEE!

Apparently, my sis allowed Kiki (her cat) to smell candy corn today... Seemed Kiki was very interested... ;-)

Aww! *hugs* Well, if it turns out tasty, you'll have to post the recipe or something, okay?

:-)

*laughs* It would be nice to know I don't have the only candy-eating cat.

I'm going to make it this weekend. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hee, yes! There are probably others, as well... Just perhaps their owners don't know about it! ;-)

Ooo, excellent! Hope it turns out well! *crosses fingers*

He eats cucumbers too. He IS called Spaz...

I think it will. I practiced with peanut brittle today and that turned out great!

*g* Hee, cucumbers, too?

Ooo, that sounds yummy! Very appropriate for fall and the holidays!

*nods* Uh-huh. And he begs for pumpkin when I carve them. Though I can't really blame him; cat food is disgusting.

It did turn out well. I'm going to do hazelnut brittle as well. I'll be all brittled out!

Can't say I've ever had a cat begging for pumpkin! Kiki just has her sweet tooth and Matisse will sometimes gum the "cheese" off of Cheetos but other than that, they just stick to their food! Maybe I'll try offering pumpkin the next -- maybe it's just that they've never had the opportunity to try it... :-)

Ooo, and hazelnut brittle! That sounds tasty, too!

It could just be I have the worlds pickiest cat. He eats vegetables and he'll only eat seafood-type cat food. No chicken, turkey or beef. Maybe he's a vegetarian?

They ONLY problem with it is that I'm using our own hazelnuts. They are very labor intensive and I hope it's worth it.

Who knows? Could be vegetarian! Spaz might even rival our Kiki for picky-ness, too! With Kiki, you can practically see her wrinkle up her nose at half the food we give her -- even if it's something she's liked in the past!

Wow! With all the time you're putting into it, I'm sure it will turn out well!

Sounds like Kiki is a candidate for Terry Pratchett's "The Unadulterated Cat"! She fits one of the profiles perfectly!

It turned out beautifully! *sighs*

Hee! Sadly, I'm not familiar with "The Unadulterated Cat" -- but I might have to check it out now and see where Kiki fits in!

Yay! :-)

This is a bit from the book that Kiki made me think of:

1. Real cat turns up its nose at gold-plated stuff recommended by woman on television.
2. Out of spite, you buy some down-market own-brand stuff whose contents you really wouldn't want to know about. Cat wolfs it down, licks empty plate across floor.
3. Out of relief, next shopping trip you buy a dozen tins of the humming stuff.
4.Cat turns up nose at it after one meal.

Sound familiar? *nods* Me too.
