I... I don't know what to say. I was given a link to this page after reading some stories about bootcamps. Reading someone report about the horrors at boot camp was bad. I was horrified. Reading a first person account of boot camp left me shaking. I was appalled. I'm amazed that you were strong enough to live through it - I know I would have been brainwashed.

Thank you for taking the time to write this out.

I was referred here by meimi after reading some disturbing accounts of abuse and murder at boot camp (granted, "disturbing" doesn't quite cut it, I don't think any word does). I have to say...I never, ever knew that boot camps were anywhere NEAR this bad. I was quite ignorant. But after reading bits of news...I was in shock. And after reading your firsthand account- I'm mortified.

You truly are a brave person for everything you had to put up with and I'm amazed at your strength. No one deserves this sort of treatment- not even those enlisted in this program for "appropriate" reasons. And I'm sorry to see a perfectly normal person such as yourself who only seemed to be suffering from depression get treated this way. It makes me wonder how many more people like yourself have been recommended this treatment.
I don't think anything that traumatizing will ever be fully forgotten, but I hope you find peace and continue being strong.

It's very true, that eventually once outside of the program the promised "cure" for bad behavior wears off. Unfortunately often times the recovery period is seen as just backsliding into bad behavior again.

For everything they've done to you, you came out wonderfully. You rock, girl.
As for the boot camps, I have nothing constructive to say, 'cause that kind of stuff leaves me with a knot in the throat and that kind of numbness you feel only after a strong hit. "Horrible" doesn't even begin to describe those places.
