Help Choose Nine Women to Run the World: Meme

Jan 25, 2010 20:37

I think Carol Muske Dukes' latest post on Women's Voices For Change has the potential to turn into a neat meme:

If you could pick any nine women to run the world, who would they be?
Carol Muske Duke says.

What do you think? Is it time for us to start imagining a new kind of world, since this one ain't working? Is it time for us to try a different approach - say, give the other gender a chance at running things?

Please respond by nominating one or two or nine women who you think could take charge and give us a chance to save ourselves and the planet. At a certain point, I'll tally the results to see who The Nine are, but we are not so interested in how many votes any single "candidate" gets as which names appear.

The list at Women's Voices For Change is already fascinating, from artists to politicians to media moguls. I've been thinking about it all day. Ruth Bader Ginsburg? Gloria Steinem? Sonia Sotomayor? Ariana Huffington? Which nine women would really get things done? Would they agree? Would they fight?  Every time I look at the page, another name jumps out- either someone I'd forgotten about, or my memory's jogged of someone new to add.

Read the post, add names we've forgotten, or chime in for the women you're happy to see on the list.
And spread the word. Let's see how many women we can get on the list that other people haven't thought of.  Please comment there, rather than here.
