I have quite a bit to post about, but I'll start off with the movie I saw just now..
Pros:
-very dramatic and exciting opening scene
-pretty good cast: Chris Pine did well though I don't know him from anything else, Leonard Nimoy, Simon Pegg!!!, John Cho!!!, Winona Ryder, and Chris Hemsworth (slated to play Thor)
-main cast was very likeable, especially Anton Yelchin, the Russian that no one could understand
-good overall story, though there are few plot holes
-constant action throughout the film
-very cool costume design, especially the paratrooper suits
-very good, crisp CG
-little green guy
Cons:
-not very star trek at all
-not a big fan of Zach Quinto's portrayal of Spock. He was basically Sylar on a good day.
-Spock constantly making out like he's a human or something
-Didn't like Eric Bana or people of his race. They looked like Piccolo from Dragonball Evolution.
-WAY. TOO. MANY. LENS FLARES
-I know they used special cameras to film this movie, but I'm a much bigger fan of blur refocus zoom refocus. Zoom refocus has a weird effect on my eyes that makes it look like the screen closes inward for a second.
-has very little to do with the original Star Trek
-CORNY REFERENCES EVERYWHERE: nerve pinch, beam me up scotty, are you out of your vulcan mind, etc etc
Overall:
-glad I don't know that much about star trek!
85/100
