The Video Web

I guess I'll be showing my curmudgeonliness again here, but does anyone else get miffed when they follow a link to a site and find nothing there but some ad content and a video, which is itself prefaced by an ad?

It's been rampant this week with CES and Macworld going on. I understand, ad sponsorship allows the reviewers to get paid to do their jobs. A banner or sidebar ad you can see, you will look into the subject if you care, and then subsequently put into your peripheral vision while you peruse the text of the article. Video, you're stuck watching 10-15 seconds of ad content per video. I'm looking at you, c|net and Sharks TV.

Getting back to the original point, though, I guess I'm curious. Given the choice between a car review that comes in text+image or video format, which do folks prefer?
