Video [001]

[At first it's audio only, a slightly groggy voice]

Lucie...? Lucie, are you out there? Can you hear me? I've been rather conveniently provided with this... starfish thing... I can only assume you have too...

Lucie? Come on... It's me--it's the Doctor, I--

Wait a minute... agh, I'm soaked...
[Some fumbling with the device, and an image appears: ( Read more... )

[cue grin, here]

That's right! You've heard of me, then?

From whom, may I ask?
Girl about your age, perhaps? Northern accent, lots of attitude...?

You're the Doctor, Time Lord Doctor? But that's impossible, you're-- I was just talking to you, just earlier. Even if you regenerated, you can't have forgotten me.

[forgetting to consider the backwards possibility]

I'm afraid it is. I am the Doctor... and I don't remember you, no--
[half a second to realize that's probably an upsetting idea]
b-but that doesn't mean I've forgotten! Not necessarily. If you knew another me, for instance? Or some kind of paradox, perhaps, or--well, what's the last thing you remember? Of me--what did I say, what was I doing?

[a few more seconds to get past the puzzle and process everything she's said]

Wait, what do you mean Time Lord Doctor? What do you know about the Time Lords? Are they behind this?

The Time Lords can't have done anything, you told me yourself, you're the last--

[stop. okay, dawning revelation.]

...You haven't even met me yet.

But I was just in the TARDIS, how could you have-- can Time Lords-- regress?

They can do a lot. And I may be the last person who'd get involved in it, but they don't really give me a choice.

Regress? What--regenerate in reverse? No, we can't... We can, however, exist in multiples simultaneously in a single place in time without being actually paradoxical. Just so long as each one of us is a separate incarnation. It's confusing, but it happens--happens entirely too much, in my case.

I'm the eighth of me. The me you're familiar with ...has the TARDIS? [noticeably excited; it's the first good news he's had so far] You're sure? I've--we've--got her here?

[lips twitch at his excitement despite her utter confusion] The TARDIS is here, yeah, but the Cloister Bell won't stop ringing, and the Doctor-- er, you-- said she hasn't been able to go anywhere since showing up here.

So-- there'll be two of you here, now, then?

[and she's so, so curious to see what he was like in the past. warning. :| ]

[bit of a damper on the excitement, there; he actually looks worried for a moment]

Oh... Well, that's never good. Any activity in the Cloister Room usually spells disaster...

It seems so. Oh! I'd forgotten to ask: what's your name?
