It's a sickness, I swear.
I went to SM North Edsa to pay bills and work some, but after settling my accounts, my feet led me to National Bookstore. I knew there was a sale because I had been to the one in Megamall last night and bought Piers Anthony's Currant Events (a Xanth novel) in hardbound for P50 frickin' bucks. ;) I also saw a copy of Simon Singh's Big Bang: The Origin of the Universe, but it was a bit dog-eared for my taste so I didn't get it.
And so there I was in National Bookstore, drawn again to the sale bins. At first I didn't see anything interesting, but when I got to the second bin, destiny intervened. There it was, sandwiched between two other books I didn't care for, a shrink-wrapped, decent copy of Singh's Big Bang! Never mind the remainder mark, but at P267 (the original price is P879!), it was such a steal. So I grabbed it like a book-starved freak and continued browsing. I've got a million other books waiting to be perused and I could almost hear their "read-me-first" pleas. But, alas, my greedy heart would not relent. My apologies, dear books.
In the same bin, I found Josh Horowitz's The Mind of the Modern Moviemaker (price: P119!) and got it too. Good thing I didn't see anything else that I liked and the book craze stopped there. I've already overspent last month and I'm still trying to refactor my budget. And so I paid for my purchases and left the store feeling triumphant and excited. I can't wait to delve into the physics of the Big Bang. :D
Oh, and about a month or two ago, I scored Steve Martin's Shopgirl (my current read) and T.C. Boyle's The Human Fly and Other Short Stories in a book sale in Landmark. Very good copies. The two books cost a total of P99. Ain't life just sweet? Now, if I could just find the time to read all these. Haha!
