Last semester was the toughest semester of my life, maybe the toughest 3 months of my life (so far). Between tutoring, grading, the Putnam seminar and then studying for 3 advanced math classes and Japanese culture, I found myself on many occasions getting home at 1 in the morning to cook "dinner", get some sleep and then wake up at 7 to start the day all over again. What's weird is, after all the problem sets, all the rewritten math proofs, papers, refreshing my trig for tutoring and making friends with mentor professors and fellow students, I was able to get two 3.5's, 3.4 and a 3.0. I am very happy with this, considering that I thought I was seriously going to fail advanced calculus and make a fool of myself in the eyes of Prof. Turret. But nope I got a 3.4 instead and I know I can get a 4.0 in advanced calculus 2 next semester.
Well anyways, hope everyone is well. Undergrad life is coming to an end, and I'll soon be applying to graduate programs in mathematics, I look forward to getting this math career thing going. For anyone interested, if not just for my record, here's my schedule for next semester.
Advance Calculus II - Basically everything from Advanced calculus I, but now transformations from Rn to Rm. instead of functions.
Abstract Algebra - Yes, there are other types of algebra out there other than the high school algebra most people hate.
History of Math- I'm excited for this. It's a class where you learn math, but also it's a history class.
So it's kinda light, well Abstract and advanced II are the most hardest classes a undergrad can take, so i know it's not going to be an easy semester. I'm also planning on tutoring 8 hours and grading for a business calculus class. Maybe even start up the OU math club. TWO MORE SEMESTERS!
