I think that isn't as important as that it's going to happen. People spend so much timing worrying when or how that they don't come to terms with the fact that regardless of whether or not they die in some sort of apocalypse or on their own that their deaths are inevitable. You will die. There will some a day where you will cease to exist; your heart will be silent; your eyes won't flutter; all those little physical things you take for granted will be over. That day will come and it doesn't matter when or how just that it will so you might as well get used to the fact that something is bigger than you, bigger than all of us.
People aren't just afraid of all of these disasters because they will die. They are afraid that something is so powerful, more powerful than them, that they have no authority over it. Our race is so used to being able to manipulate, control, and take advantage of something that it is a terrible thought that there is something that could imprison our will.
