Writer's Block: Under the Tree

Nov 19, 2008 21:21

As trite and fake as this might sound, I just want to find hope and happiness this year. Something that makes this Christmas stick out for me and makes all the bad stuff worth it. Other than that I don't really want any sort of gift that I'm not going to remember in a few years' time after I break it, lose it, or move on to another gift.

The fact is I am in college and all my money and my family's money is going towards that so in a sense I'm getting an eduation. But my grandpa does have money and will get me something but if it wasn't anything other than something small I don't think it would be a major issue.

For me it's just about having something to open.

But I would not mind the latest season of House, the Dark Knight movie, or a book or two. And maybe a pair of jeans because I don't have any that fit because of soccer.

I guess being away from my family all year kind of makes me realize that's a bit more important to me than playing with my gifts. I just love watching Christmas movies and the music and stuff. That and I think it's partly the adult aspect of the matter when you get to the point that you're not the kid anymore and only get a gift or two as opposed to a room full of them.

I think I am ok with that though. It will be a transition from last year but we'll see how I handle it.
