the perfect prescription

sometimes i just fall into an album or a song or a line. and it will just stop and make me think of something specifically. i find when i first awake listening to music can really set the tone for what's ahead.

i'm really excited to be able to play music in a public forum next saturday.

i don't want to take all the little things for granted.

without getting mushy i feel really blessed to have so many good close friends. I suppose that's just growing up too. but at some point you have to nurture your relationships with people.

I'm really enjoying the new Shins album. I managed to pick it up yesterday at End Hits for a very reasonable price on vinyl. It comes with one of those internet download deals where you can enter a specific code to download the entire album in mp3 format. That's good for me being a dj. the legal side of things i mean.

I'm also really enjoying the new Of Montreal album 'hissing fauma, are you the destroyer?' very desperate lyrics set to a back drop of upbeat melody's and beats from everything from funk, soul, disco and somewhere in between a little bit of house. the sever juxtaposition makes for quite an engaging listen.

I just caught wind of a fantastic show coming to zaphod's in march.

Menomena & Field Music !?!

Zaphod's.

wow.

yeah i know!

Menomena's new album 'friend or foe' is fantastic i feel trumping there first effort.

AND Field Music! i almost felt like it was too good to be true, like there must be another perhaps local canadian band with the same name. haha but i did some research in this matter and it's solid.

speaking or shows i'm really looking forward to going to the Camera Obscura, Essex Green show tuesday night at barrymore's.

i really enjoyed both their lastest albums...

loyd, i'm ready to be heartbroken.

great.

i just can't stop listing to NeutraL Milk Hotel. that album 'in the aeroplane over the sea' is fantastic. i always liked that album but i've just recently, over the last 3 months or so, just fallen so hard for it. wonderful stuff.

i'm trying to get a hold of that 33 and a half book on the album. bob's going to hook me up.

there are a lot of good shows coming actually, Grizzly Bear, Think About Life....

I've begun making some new mixes for saturday night. I love how portable my gear is, i can just plump it right beside my computer record out from the mixer into the back and bam. i must admit though it's a real bitch to mix off turntables on the floor, an odd feeling doing it too!

i met Peter Kember, or Sonic Boom from the band Spacemen3 when he "played" here a couple weeks back. he signed my spacemen3 book, then he drew a pyramid and a big 3. it took him a good 3-5 minutes to complete!

i was chuffed.

oh online journal i love you.
