The Life and Times of Meadow Thayer: 2.7

THE LIFE & TIMES OF MEADOW THAYER IS A JOINT PRODUCTION BETWEEN:
AMY (shoefleesims) AND HER SISTER JESS (wiggly_toes).

[95 IMAGES, VIOLENCE, & SCARY PIG-TAILED BULLIES]

PREVIOUSLY on the Life and Times of Meadow Thayer: Meadow discovered that Bella had a son with Tony named Freddie who wanted Bella to come home. At first Bella said no, but after Freddie showed up at Goth Manor bruised and bloodied, Bella agreed and went to live with the Simpranos. Meadow gave birth to a boy named Dusk, Dawn became a kid, Sally & Herlock got engaged and Dusk became a toddler. At the end of the last update, Meadow received a phone call telling her that the Oldies had died.

It turned out that the Oldies had both died in their sleep, apparently within minutes of each other. A few days later, we headed to the cemetery for the funeral.

Mary-Sue, who I knew from my conversations with the Oldies was their adopted daughter, seemed very distraught.

Her daughter Lilith seemed to not be so upset, and spent most of the time talking with Dawn.

Suddenly, Mary-Sue's raised voice caught my attention.

Mary-Sue: You never understand me, Daniel! It's like you're from another planet!

I looked on in shock as she continued to yell and out of the corner of my eye I caught sight of their other daughter, Lilith's twin Angela, running away in tears.

The poor little girl was already distressed by her grandparent's passing, surely this was just what she didn't need right now.

She ran away in hysterics to wait in the car and I didn't see her for the rest of the day.

Carrying Dusk, I walked over to introduce myself to the other couple.

Meadow: I'm Meadow Thayer, I lived near the Oldies. Coral used to invite me over for tea all the time.
Jennifer: Oh, nice to meet you Meadow. I'm Jeniffer Burb, Daniel's sister. This is my husband John and my daughter Lucy.
Meadow: She's adorable! How old is she? This is my son Dusk, he just turned two. That other little girl over there is my daughter Dawn.
Jennifer: Oh, Lucy is two as well, but her birthday was a couple months ago. Maybe we could arrange a playdate sometime?

I gave Jennifer my number and was about to head to the car with Alon and the kids when Mary-Sue came by and told me that the Oldies' lawyer wanted to see me. Even though I wasn't sure why, I handed Dusk to Alon and followed Mary-Sue and her husband Daniel.

We headed to an office that was conveniently right next door and went inside. There was another woman already there, apparently she was a member of some charity, and behind the desk sat the lawyer, Mr. Sanders.

Mr. Sanders: I know you're all very distressed over the recent death of Herb and Coral, but I've called you hear for the reading of the will.

Mr. Sanders: In accordance with the terms of the will, the Andersons have divided their money as such. §10,000 will be donated to the Foundation for Lost Youths. §100,000 will go to their daughter, Mary-Sue, along with all the furniture in their house and also Herb's classic automobile.
Mary-Sue: But what about the house?
Mr. Sanders: I was getting there. The house, along with §10,000, goes to one Meadow Thayer.

Mary-Sue: What? Why does she get the house? She isn't even related to them!

Mary-Sue: Why do you get the house? What sort of nonsense have you been filling my parent's ears with that they decided to give the house to you and not me?

Meadow: I- I don't know! I had no idea they were planning on leaving me the house. Did- Did they say why, Mr. Sanders?

Mr. Sanders: The Andersons had their reasons, which they explained in a letter that I'll leave for you at the house.
Mary-Sue: This is unfair!
Mr. Sanders: I don't think §100,000 and all their possessions is very unfair, Mrs. Pleasant. Not to mention the §10,000 each for Lilith and Angela.

Daniel: Oh wow, that was very generous of them! I'm sure Lilith and Angela will be grateful.
Mary-Sue: What are you trying to say, Daniel? That I'm some sort of ungrateful bitch?!?
Daniel: N-no..... I just meant- It- It's very nice of them, is all.

I took that opportunity to leave, not wanting to get in the middle of an argument between Mary-Sue and Daniel.

At first I was hesitant to leave the home that used to belong to my parents, but after talking it over with Alon and Sally we figured out a plan that would make everyone happy.

I called Nina over while we were packing up.

Nina: I can't believe you're selling this house!
Meadow: Well actually, we're not. We used the money the Oldies gave us to pay off the last of it and we were thinking of renting it out.
Nina: To who?
Meadow: To you, Nina! I know you were complaining about how hard it was to raise Kevin around Dina, so I thought you could use a place of your own.

Nina: Oh Meadow, thank you so much. And this way you won't have to lose your parent's place!

Alon and I began the move that weekend. As soon as we unloaded the boxes from the back of the van, Dawn took over and began arranging them into a fort. Soon, Eugene and Kevin came wandering down the street to join her. As I watched with interest, both boys knocked three times, clucked like a chicken and then leaned in to whisper some sort of password.

Dawn: So what do you guys think of the fort? I should win an award for creativity!

Eugene: It's alright. Kinda cramped though.
Dawn: Oh stop being so picky! It's all I could come up with. Look, I even made a sign!

I took a peek at the sign while the kids were distracted. I had to admit, Dawn was a pretty good artist, even if her depiction of the little Peterson girl was a bit colorful.

Alon and I continued to unpack until we heard the sounds of more children coming down the street. It was Daniel Pleasant and his twin girls Lilith and Angela.

Daniel: We wanted to see how you were settling in to the home. Er, sorry my wife couldn't make it. She's- er- busy.
Meadow: That's alright. Thank you for coming over!
Daniel: Oh, it was my pleasure. Do you need any help moving in? I can lift some boxes and furniture if you'd like?

Meanwhile, Angela and Lilith headed straight for the fort.

Lilith: Cool fort!
Eugene: EEEEK CLONES!
Dawn: Don't be stupid, Eugene, they're just twins!

Dawn: You can come join us! Even if you do have red hair like stupid Susie Peterson.

Susie Peterson: I HEARD THAT DAWN THAYER!

Dawn: NYAH NYAH NYAH BOO BOO, SUSIE SMELLS LIKE POO POO!

Susie Peterson: I'LL GET YOU DAWN THAYER!

Susie Peterson: AND YOUR LITTLE BROTHER TOO!

As the kids played outside and Daniel helped Alon move in the furniture, I headed into the kitchen. Stuck to the refrigerator with a magnet was the note Mr. Sanders had mentioned.

I sniffled as I read the note, and a tear slipped down my face. I had enjoyed spending time with Herb and Coral, but I hadn't known they'd felt so fondly about me. It was nice knowing that someone cared that much.

We soon settled into life at our new house. Everything was wonderful- although we did notice that our newspaper seemed to disappear every morning.

We had no idea why, until one day Alon waited outside and caught sight of the little Peterson girl snatching it right off our lawn!

Dawn: YOU COME BACK HERE WITH OUR PAPER, STUPID SUSIE PETERSON!
Alon: YEAH! Wait- Dawn, you shouldn't call people stupid.
Dawn: Sorry, Daddy.

A few days later, Jennifer Burb stopped by with her daughter Lucy for a playdate.

Jennifer: I love what you've done with the place so far!

Meadow: Well we brought most of the furniture from the old house. Alon just finished painting down here, he's going to start on the upstairs soon.

As Jennifer and I chatted, Dusk and Lucy played at their little table by the stairs.

Dusk: Dis my bwock. You want bwock?

Dusk: Yay, you has bwock too.

Lucy: Bwock has fwavor.
Dusk: Uh huh. Taste wike bloo.

The next evening, while Alon was upstairs painting, the phone rang and I quickly answered it.

Meadow: Thayer Residence, this is Meadow speaking!
Bella: Meadow... this is Bella... I can't talk for long...
Meadow: Bella? I can barely hear you, are you whispering?

Bella Tony went down the hall... and left me alone with the phone for the first time in months. I need your help, Meadow! Freddie and I can't stay here, it's too dangerous. Tony hits me every time I talk back to him. Please!
Meadow: I'll do whatever I can, Bella, just-
Bella: It's Tony! I have to go! -click-

I quickly called Sally and Herlock over, and dragged Alon away from painting without even giving him time to put on a shirt.

Meadow: I think its time we rescue Bella. I just got a phone call from her, and she says Tony is being abusive. We can't let them stay there!

Alon: But how are we going to rescue them, Meadow? I doubt it'll be as easy as last time.
Meadow: I don't know. What do you think, Herlock?

Herlock: I'm not sure how, but I know we need to do it. It isn't safe for Bella and Freddie there.

Alon: I don't know if this is such a good idea... we could get caught, and then what?

Alon: If one of the Simpranos catches us, they might very well kill us!

Herlock: And if we leave Bella and Freddie there, they very well might kill them! This has to be done. Tonight. Now.

So we called over Nina to watch the children, changed into our most comfortable close (for easy sneaking) and headed over to the Simprano Mansion.

Herlock: You aren't seriously going to walk right into the front door, are you?
Sally: Why not? It worked with the back door last time?

And sure enough, it did work.

Alon: I dunno, that was too easy!
Sally: Shhh! I think its through here.

We headed through the door... and right into a room full of mobsters.

Salvatorre: So, the little goody two-shoes fell right into our trap. Didn't think we'd increase security after last time? We have cameras everywhere!

Salvatorre: Now what could I do with four little pesky intruders?

Salvatorre: Tony, go get your little wife and tell her she has some... visitors.

Tony left the room as Vince went to guard the door. Moments later, the door flew open as Tony shoved Bella inside.

Tony: Get in there, bitch. My father wants to see you.

Bella: I'm so sorry... I didn't mean to get you caught...

Salvatorre grabbed her arm and swung her towards him.

Salvatorre: I think its time you become a real member of this family, Bella.
Bella: W-what do you mean?

Salvatorre: Kill them.
Bella: NO! I can't! They're my friends!

Salvatorre: Do it, you little bitch!
Bella: No! I WON'T!

Salvatorre: Fine. If you won't do it...

Salvatorre: Then I'll just have to blow every one of their brains out.

Carmen: Freeze, FBI! I've been waiting a long time for you to slip up, Salvatorre. I had you on kidnapping, but I wanted to make sure you went away for life.

Everyone was frozen in shock at Carmen's words.

And then Tony pulled a gun from his jacket.

Tony: I don't think so, Carmen. Come on, Vince, we can take her!

Before Carmen could respond, I heard the pounding of footsteps from behind.

Cops: Pleasantview police, nobody move!

Vince: Wait, I'm an informant! I've been slipping info to Meadow, I'll testify against them, just don't shoot!

Meadow: *GASP* You're ninjatoes1975!

As one of the officers led Vince from the room, Salvatorre took two steps forward, holding his gun in his hand.

Salvatorre: No- NO! I won't go to jail and I won't be a sell-out like my wuss of a son!

Officer D'onofrio: We'll see about that!

The younger officer launched himself across the room and tackled Salvatorre. Everything seemed to be a cloud of limbs and scuffles until finally the air cleared...

Officer D'onofrio: You're going to jail, Salvatorre Simprano, for a long time.

After that everything seemed to be a bit of a blur. The cops took all the Simpranos into custody and rescued Freddie from a room upstairs where he'd been locked in. It wasn't until the sun was rising and we were standing on the front lawn that we realized that Carmen was missing.

Suddenly, we turned to see her running out of the front door, dressed in a long red trench coat, matching hat and black bodysuit.

From overhead came the loud whirring sound of Helicopter blades. Sally, Herlock, Alon and I all looked up in surprise.

As we watched, Carmen ran up to the helicopter and jumped inside.

As the helicopter took off, we watched in shock. What had just happened?

Finally, covering my ears against the loud noise, I yelled as loud as I could.

Meadow: Wait! WHO ARE YOU?!?

For a moment the helicopter hovered in the air and then I heard a voice yelling down.

Carmen: I'm Carmen. Carmen Sandiego.

And then, as the helicopter pulled away, The Great and Mystical Katu's words echoed faintly through my mind. "All will be well when black turns to red and the metal bird descends from above."

Black turns to red? That was Carmen, changing into her red outfit and- the metal bird was the helicopter! Did that mean... the Great and Mystical Katu had been RIGHT?

After that, everything seemed to calm down, and the next few years went by without much event. Bella took Freddie home and moved him into Alex's old room. They both seemed to be relieved to finally be free of Tony Simprano.

Vince testified against his brother and father at their trial, and got off with probation, seeing as how he had tried to be an informant and never actually killed anyone.

I'd sort of wondered what happened to him, until one night almost a year later when I stopped by Nina's home only to find her and Vince making out on the couch!

That was something I never needed to see. Ever.

Both Tony and Salvatorre were sentenced to life in prison, which I heard they weren't too happy about.

The next three years passed by in a slow swirl of homework and playdates until suddenly, it was Dusk's birthday.

I'd invited everyone we considered family, including Cassandra and Eugene. But it seemed Cassandra had finally taken my advice about Darren, because we received a postcard from her a day or so later. Darren had taken Cass and Eugene on a whirlwind trip to Smrance! How romantic.

All the rest of our friends came by, of course, and Dusk's birthday party was just as loud as all our gatherings.

It seemed like just yesterday when I brought him home from the hospital, he was growing so fast.

Dusk was an adorable and charming little boy.

His best friend was Lucy Burb, who came over often. Dusk was always enthused to show her his ant farm.

He loved making faces and trying to pretend to speak their language.

Within the next year, we received the invitation to Sally and Herlock's wedding.

It was a sweet, quiet outdoor ceremony, and everyone was there; including Cassandra and Darren, who had come back from Smrance engaged! I was overjoyed to see Sally so happy and I knew Herlock would take good care of her.

Dawn was growing up as well, and she spent a lot of time hanging out with Lilith Pleasant, and sometimes Angela, though I often overheard Lilith complaining about how prissy Angela was. It also wasn't unusual for me to receive calls from the Principal in the middle of the day, rambling on about whatever prank Lilith and Dawn had pulled off that day.

Soon it was time for Dawn's birthday as well. It amazed me to think it had been almost nine years since we'd watched the Simpranos getting arrested. All our friends were at the party, including Lilith and Angela who had turned 13 a few weeks ago, and Kevin Caliente, who shared Dawn's birthday of course.

Kevin reminded me a lot of his father, though he was much sweeter of course.

And Dawn looked so grown up, and so much like me, except for her father's hair and chin.

Everyone had sat down to eat cake when I heard a knock at the door, and then the ringing of our doorbell. Wondering who it could be, I made my way down the hall and opened the door.

The two people who met my eyes were the last I expected. They looked just like the picture I had- but that was impossible, that picture had been taken decades ago and even so- they couldn't be here, they were dead!

Meadow: M-Mom? D-Dad?

------------PRODUCTION NOTES------------

- We bet you're shocked, right? Heh.
- The Family That Is Violent Together Stays Together Shoots Each Other. (Notice that Carmen is NOT a Bella clone!)
- What Really Happened at the Wedding! (Sally is a romance sim, whoops!)
- We LOVE Stoopid Susie Peterson! We actually made a mom for her and two friends, so we got a bit carried away.
- Jessi tends to name her Sims the weirdest things; usually whatever is next to her. The female cop's name is actually "Candle English", the older cops name is "Fatty". We also have sims such as "Bangle" and "Flashlight" wandering around the neighborhood.
