Nothing like
LJ being down for a few hours to get you all screwy with "what just happened" posting issues.
Nonetheless, after catching up on
all of you, it seems that most things are going well in the world, except for
Hollywood Bar & Filmworks here in Indianapolis closing down (mostly due to downtown parking issues - primarily, it seems, how the local government kept dropping the ball on fixing the issue).
Me, you ask? Well life is pretty much the normal for me - I work, I spend time with Liz, and I sleep. Work is the usual craziness. I travel all over the place between Greenfield, IN; Indianapolis, IN; Westfield, IN; Lafayette, IN; and all around suburban Chicago, IL. Supposedly, that travel time will be significantly decreased starting in January, but we'll see. I'm not even sure where I'll be and what I'll be doing at that point. As I've discussed with several of my friends, and some of my family, I'm researching other career opportunities for various reasons (though I am mostly salary-driven).
But that's serious grown-up stuff. Let's talk fun:
Back in July, Liz bought me a gift certificate for my birthday for a
Discovery Flight at the
Hendricks County Airport just outside of Indy. Today, we cashed it in. I got to fly a Cessna 172 - from taxi to take-off to a roughly half-hour flight and then the instructor landed us. It was quite exhilarating! I'm sure
cloudchaser11 will attest that there's nothing quite like zooming around out there above the cloud layer. I'm seriously considering continuing my private pilot lessons at some point and getting a pilot's license. Maybe someday I can afford the $200k+ for my own plane. At the moment, all I own is a Pilot's Logbook complete with my first 0.6 hours of flight time including 1 takeoff. We'll see what transpires, eh?
