It's pretty amazing that the whole internet explosion just started a little over 15 years ago, and look at how sour, angry, irritable, and miserable we have all become! I think in some ways, too much information is definitely NOT a good thing.
Here is something else I don't get......WHY do we have to have SO MANY DEVICES that can connect to Facebook, twitter, YouTube, VuDu, and every other site online? Are you that freakin' lazy that you can't get off your ass and go to a COMPUTER to do this? If you want web apps on your TV, get a nice big flat-screen that has an HDMI port on the back and hook your computer up to it! I don't need Facebook on my Blu-Ray player - seriously.
Is your e-mail THAT important that you have to have it attached to your hip, and your brain will explode if you can't check it every five freakin' minutes? Give me a break!
Have you never played a single-player OFFLINE game in your life, or does your whole social experience revolve around your 80-level mage in Azeroth or your gun-toting heavy lieutanant in the next war game?
Yes, I admit I have a "smart phone", but I mainly use it for looking up phone numbers and locations to places I have no idea where they are - and some Facebook. I just like a little screen estate on my phone.
If my internet goes out, my heart won't stop, my brains won't explode, and my hair won't turn blue (yet). I still have plenty of good available entertainment for at home, such as cassettes, albums, laserdiscs, VHS tapes, my arcade emulator programs, and of course I do have the option of actually getting out of the house and GOING SOMEWHERE.
Remember life before 24-hour TV? They used to play the anthem at night, then it went to color bars - or snow! Heck....in the beginning, even HBO wasn't 24 hours a day! What did you do? Oh yeah......people SLEPT at night. Not anymore!
I feel better getting that off my chest. Heck.....I'm a whole cup size smaller now!
