Assuming this is a gas leak, that is working under the assumption that the only damaged pipes are the ones that affect where ever the sulphur is coming from, and that the technology here is in perfect condition.

Wouldn't it be safer to wait until those who were going to look for the cause of the sulphur knew exactly what the cause was?
