...I was thinking about not using this thing until I got shocked, since I never got shocked from the mistletoe thing, but then I realized I had a question I needed to ask. Which is, it's almost New Year's. It's obviously going to be impossible to have temple visits and cook the food and send postcards and dress up and stuff, so I was wondering, how ( Read more... )

There are usually a lot of fireworks and... noise.

You're supposed to make new year's resolutions, too.

I see...

"Resolutions," huh.

Well, they're supposed to be made.

...Not that people typically follow through with them.

That's pretty much human nature, though.

Most cultures have some kind of "resolution" tradition, I think, and usually it takes place at the "New Year's," even though that date can vary since people didn't always use the same calendar. But most people I think have some kind of "atone and put behind you your sins and mistakes" tradition, and a "goals for the new year" one. So even though it doesn't always amount to anything, the desire probably could also be considered human nature.

...Sounds real clever when I say it like that, doesn't it?

What's the point of saying that you'll do something though if you won't do it? Isn't it better to do the action instead of saying you'll do it; an actions speak louder than words scenario?

I don't think people say "I'm going to do this" if they don't mean it. They might not be able to, but when they make that their goal, they at least intend to try. I don't think that's really indecisiveness.
