Ah, that is the contradiction in people. Fickle though they may be, their opinions are fairly set in care, and friendship.

Rather drastic measures are required to change that.

...Since you're bringing it up, I guess I should ask what your 'drastic measures' are, in hopes that it's not the obvious.

Your assumption of the obvious would be..?

"If they're dead, you don't have to worry about their opinions."

Or something.

That's hardly true in this city.

I would deem their opinions unworthy regardless. You, however, seem to consider them quite precious.

Do you believe a few simple arguments will sway their care?

I guess in this place... we're unlucky like that.

[...] Somehow I don't think a guy like you could get it.

Intriguing, isn't it? One never has to face the ramifications of their own demise.

Oh, perhaps I can't. However, if you ever truly desire them to dislike you (without violence on your part) I might be willing to help.

On that note, you should refine your locking technique.

[...] I almost don't wanna ask, but how exactly would you 'help?'

And I know. I probably shouldn't even bother with locking stuff, since it never seems to work.

You don't seem quite desperate enough.

Pretense is an art, shall we say. You're quite a natural talent at it.

Tsk tsk. Such frustration. It's really quite simple.. I could teach you.

I'm not desperate, but I'm curious. Can't even get a hint?

[...] I'm flattered for the compliment, but I'm not sure I really agree. As the locking thing probably proves in some way, I'm a pretty open, honest guy. Can't even hide things when I try.

I suppose I will leave you with a thought. Should it interest you in the future..

Imagine building a pretense strong enough for their true dislike. Thus, were you to die again, it would be without the suffering of others.

My, that sounds like a defense of those traits.

And I guess you'd be the one to help me out with the "again" part, huh. Of course, since it doesn't stick here, the build up would be useless.

The cause notwithstanding. Death is an easy occurrence in this city, and one you may face again.

You should have seen them. Even your neighbor worried for you. That rough fellow who owns the bar searched the city twice over.

Their care for you is strong and obvious.

I don't doubt it much. Maybe I should try and get my chip out.

[...] Nice of you to keep tabs on people for me. I guess that just means I have to work harder to pretense them, is it?
